repairing the cracks in my dashpad

I have a few small cracks in the dash pad of my yj. I was thinking of laying fiberglass mat, wetting it out, sanding it down and covering with rage body filler. The only question I have is wil the the resin and body filler stick to the dash pad. Or will it just crack again and cause it to look worse and give me more of a headache. I thought about just buying a new dash pad but since I already have the material (I think) will fix it I want to try that. Besides that, buying, and the work of taking the old one out and replacing it just seems like to much, if the fiberglass and body filler wont work ill just leave it.

any thoughts or ideas shoot em my way

Any repair, fiberglass or other will show the patch unless you fiberglass the entire dash. I'm guessing the only way to do the entire dash, is by removing it. At that point, you already have it out so why not just install a new one. I'd replace it unless the cost is very high. That might justify removing glassing the whole thing.

I would rather replace it but if I had to, I would repair the cracks with a two part plastic epoxy then bedliner the whole thing. The repairs should not be noticable with the bedliner.

I checked on the price of a new dash pad and the salvage yard said 50-100.00 depending on condition. I had read of the bedliner idea, thanks for reminding me of that. What I thought was glass it, fill it and paint it. I have some color matched paint. I reckon everything has to come out and the windshield has to be laid flat to remove the dash pad is that correct? The epoxy I hadn't thought of though. Yeah spud you're right if I had to do the whole dash I'd be halfway there by removing it, I am needing to replace the front speakers, but its 50-100.00 for the dash pad alone. Money is ultra tight right now for us.

Thanks for the ideas and I'm sure there is a thread on here about removing the dash.

Thanks guys
