Shifter boot issue

So the other day I was playing around in the snow and lately I've noticed my yj keeps popping out of 4wd, so I tried to play with 4lo, and it wouldn't even stay in for a second, after some more searching the boot wasn't screwed down at all, so I grabbed some screws and screwed it back on, simple fix, or so I thought, than I couldnt get into reverse, 2nd, or 4th (all the bottom gears) at all and def not 4wd, so I unscrewed the boot again and have been rolling like that. It seems like my boot is like wore out or something, idk anyone else have this problem? Any input is greatly appreciated (sorry for the story)

By your problem here one would have to assume you have a body lift? May be wrong but I have a BL and had same issues,". My dad and some friends have moved theirs back when they did the lift, and they don't have issues. I didn't and I just replaced my shifter isolator on my tcase because of the same problem as you were having, Just moving it the slightest makes a big difference it seemed like.

Ah sorry. The shifter boot. They just used self tappers and moved the boot backwards a bit. And the isolator is a rubber sleeve on your tcase shifter. With that isolator messed up, even how thin it is, it'll be very sloppy.
