Smittybilt XRC. Winches

Looking for a new winch and the XRC is a great price. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with them. I am not a heavy user and my jeep is light. Just want a little backup if I get in a jam.

I purchased the XRC8 a few months ago ... I bolted it on and works great. I haven't taken it out to really test it cos of the bad winter weather, but I've heard good comments overall.

Smittybuilt makes a decent winch. I opted for the MileMarker sec8 this time, and I am happier with it so far. The line speed is really fast. For the money you can also get an Engo 9,000 which I have heard a lot of good things about. Either tha MileMarker or the Engo can be bought cheaper than the Smitty Look in the Vendor section on this site, and you can find some deals on either. Chris @ Jeepaddons.com is a member here, and has the best prices I have seen

Me and my wife wheel alone more often than not and twice this little sucker got us out and on our way home. Pullls pretty quickly if that matters to ya. We just wanted out of a frozen puddle we broke through. Could have taken an hour cause it look so dam cool gettin us out.
Best 300.00 I invested in my jeep.

I put the XR8 on mine about a month ago. Me and a buddy of mine did a little wheeling after a solid week of rain here in GA. I bottomed out the skid plate on a deep ditch and sunk the drivers side all the way to the bottom of the door. First time I used the winch and it didn't finch. I don't have anything to compare it to but it pulled right out. As much wheeling as I do (once a month or so) it was a great purchase!!

Definetly! I have open diffs too and I feel like i can go anywhere with a tree in front of me...lol.....It's even nice when you don't wanna beat the sh*& out of your rig to get through. Make the winch do the work. It's alot easier.

I went with the XRC 10 with rope. I figured I might need a little more winch to pull out my other rigs. They are all heavy hogs.

They are not the same winches. The MileMarker is way different, you need to google the different winches you are interested in and compare specs. line speed under load, gear ratio, amp draw etc. The Harbor Freight winches do well, but i feel you can a better winch for the same amount or cheaper in my case. I personally chose the MM winch because of the line speed, controller and shut off switch that it has. The Engo would be my next pick along with a Smittybilt. i have never had any issues with the Smitty's. The Engo hqs been well reviewed also. these are all $300 or less. i got mine for about $280.00 with shipping. HarborFreight can't even beat that for regutlar prices and their warranty sucks.
Good luck
