Some bad luck, some good luck.

Well, a few months ago, I got a 94 with the I6. It's white, black interior, and in really great shape. No frame rust, a little body rust, but nothing that isn't easily repaired.

And then it got rod knock.

I was sad, cause up until that point, I'd been using her as a daily driver, not really beating her up. I only ever put her in 4wd once or twice to make sure the vacuum lines were working. Luckily for me, I have a Saturn I can drive while it was in the engine shop.

And that's what I wanted to post about, the shop. I'm in the Air Force, and unfortunately our Auto Hobby shop closed about a month before my Jeep's motor decided to wonk out. So, I couldn't do this work myself (live in the dorms, not authorized to do work in parking lots. Not to mention I have very few tools right now) and ended up going down to my local Precision Tune Auto, and they've been really helpful.

I know, I could probably have gotten a better deal at a different shop. But, being in the military, and knowing that I'm moving to TX from MS in a few months, this seemed the better route: 3 year unlimited mile warranty on the motor, to be serviced at any Precision Tune Auto.

The other great luck I had was finding a LuK clutch for $90 online (sale). I found out I had a cracked manifold, so between a new manifold and a new O2 sensor, I should be back up and running like new come tuesday. All in all, I'm getting a new motor, new clutch/pressure plate/release and pilot bearing, new manifold, new O2 sensor, new motor and transmission mounts, all new gaskets, and new fluid.

For the prices of parts and labor for the engine.

Not ideal, but it could have been worse. Justs happy to be getting it back.
