Some questions for you 2.5l owners

Hi! What RPM do you normally shift at? What's your average MPG? What's your average RPMs on the freeway/cruising? To answer my own questions: I shift around 3k RPM, I get 18mpg average, and I cruise between 2.5k and 3k rpm on the freeway doing 70 on 31" tires and stock suspension.

Honest to God I never look at what rpm I shift, I just shift by ear as the saying goes. On the hwy, I do turn around 2700 on 33's at 60 mph. The mpg hovers around 16.

I too go by ear, I just noticed yesterday when I was watching my speed that the rpm gauge always stoped at or close to 3k.

I shift around 2100-2300, mpg is maybe around the high teens, and on the freeway I go 65ish (65-70) with the rpm's a bit under 3K.

As said, I am not sure if I have ever looked at rpm's while shifting, even with my radio cranked louder than the engine it's either a combination of hearing the engine and a feel for the engine. I run 33's and run about 2,000 rpm's if I am lucky enough to use 5th gear doing 70. Otherwise I am running around 2,600 to 2,800 to do 70 in 4th gear. Mpg, I don't pay attention because then I get annoyed

I bet you get pretty good smiles per gallon though! Did you regear? I immage my engine would be around 3.5k or 4k doing 65 in 4th.

mpg don't seem bad, as far as I can tell I am running stock gears, I have not replaced myself. I know it's a gutless biotch in 5th and even in 4th some hills I bog but it does not bother me down shifting, it gives me something to do in order to pay attention to driving. No laziness in driving a manual yj!!

Sitting on 31's, as far as I know it's stock gearing.
I shift around 2300ish; I get about 15-17mpg overall.
Most of my cruising is done at 55-60 and I run around 2300-2400ish in 5th.
Last trip I took, too many hills to keep it a consistent 70, so I was pulling 2800-3100ish at 65 in fifth, I don't recall what my RPM's were in fourth.

after reading this maybe the po regeared my axles, still seems extremely sluggish to me if its been regeared. At 55 in 5th gear on 33's with a 2.5 I am running about 1,900 rpm's

I have 33's and usually shift around 3200 rpm. Average mpg is 13-14, usually run 4th at 2200 rpm at 65 mph. Swapped in an 8.8 with a 4.10 gear tag and it actually had 3.27 gears. I haven't seen 5th in over a year.
