Spare tire brake light

Anyone remove their stock brake light and put a round one in the center of the spare tire?
Ive seen it on a few Wranglers around here and I'm interested in doing so.
Anyone got any good advice? Is it tough to do?

No clue on how to do it but Im just curious why you'd want to replace it rather than just remove it.

Are you talking about the brake light above the spare tire, because if so those started with TJs, YJs didn't have them.

Not sure if all YJs had them but the 94 for sure does have a light above the spare.

Some YJs did have them. My 95 sahara does. Even has striker pin area at right tailgate so the electrical connection is there. Definitely factory.

I'm with Dral97 here, Except no light, but a hook up for an antenna for cb or something else, definitely factory. '95 Rio Grande

No yj's had the third brake light until 94, after that all wranglers came out of the factory with a third brake light.

My 95 Rio had the third brake light above the spare and I removed it when I bought my hard top. Now I want to put a brake light in the center cap of the spare tire. Something like this:

thx. I drilled holes and mounted them into the spare tire holder behind the tire. That way I do not have to screw them/unhook them every time I remove my spare, like I have seen others who put the them on the rim it's self.

Very subtle and hardly noticeable behind the tire until they come on. Then they light up the interior of the car that just pulled up on my a## at an intersection .

Question, did you solder both lights together and purchase a female adapter for the connections or did you use two separate female adapters for both lights individually?

I cut connectors off and solder them together into the factory wires which I also cut he connector off.

I was going to use connectors incase I needed to remove the carrier but the way mine fit I can still pull them back through if needed.

I then put nonconducting water repelling gel shit(can't remember name its at work) and then shrunk tubed and electrical tape. Hopefully this all does its job and keeps the moisture out
