Sport bar or family bar

For anyone who isn't sitting up front, does it really make a difference?

Sport bar looks better. I don't run a back seat, so the sport bar works just fine for me.
The family bar is set up for rear shoulder belts. Sport bar Jeeps only have rear seat lap belts.

Good Luck, L.M.

Rule of thumb:
No back seat? Sport bar.
Back seat usage? Family bar.
But some prefer the look of the sport bar over the family & vice versa.

Sport bar. I wouldnít put a car seat back there, but on the other hand Jeeps were made that way until the 90s, so maybe itís ok.

I called a place about some parts and mentioned my sport bars and they called them "Kid Crushers"

Sport bars all the way!

I have the sports bar and like the looks of it but when I run the Bikini top you can at times be sitting where the sun can get on the back of the neck, I like the way you could have the bikini top with the family bar come all the way back and eliminate that. I have come to a point in life that I like comfort and functionality more than looks. I think I would consider a swap with someone if I ran across someone in the market.

I got you bruh. Here's both.
Sport bar, way sexier. No kids and no friends so all the more reason to ditch the family bar.

You should consider getting a windbreaker. Could be had for $60 shipped. I've got one for my sport bar (in case it rains) and it keeps the sun off of my neck. Also encloses the cab nicely.

The best bar I found was Franks on Main Street. They had an awesome happy hour.
It wasn't really a sport bar, they only had one TV. It was a real dive, so definitely not a family bar.

Good Luck, L.M.

Kid crushers and the wrangler badge on the rear corners are thw easy way to tell the 87-90s from the 91-95s. Still running my kid crushers.

'91 still had the kid crusher and as a bonus you got the fuel injected 4.0.

Correct but they didnt have the wrangler badge on the rear of the tub....as far as FI being a bonus thats a matter a personal preference...my 4.2 has zero sensors on it...makes it pretty easy to maintain, but that what makes these old heeps fun...run what you want to and enjoy it.

The badge is awesome. My 88 was missing them when I bought it, so I fixed the problem. I know itís not exactly accurate on an 88, but the old AMC badges on the CJs are cool, so I stuck one of those on too. Iím not really a fan of decals, but I love the badges.

Nothing wrong with the AMC badges. My 87 is titled as an AMC.

Funny thing is I put some corner Crusher Guards on mine so I had to remove those emblems. But I picked up some epoxy & I'll be reinstalling those emblems right on top of my corner guards

Well I guess I am going against the grain, had a friend give me a family bar and best I can tell from initial measurements it will bolt right in. It needs cleaned up and painted first. I look forward to getting it on but for some reason if I don't like it, hey I'll still have the old one.

Thatís a nice cover that attaches to the side rails...I assume for to cover the soft top? Is that from Bestop?

Itís called a duster, or deck cover. It covers the rear seat and cargo area when you have the top off. Itís Bestop, but they donít make a tan one for the sport bar setup, so I had to find a spray paint that matched as close as I could.

My '94 has badges. Makes me wonder if they were added by someone earlier...

I have always liked the look of the sport bar. But I have a kid who loves to go Jeepin', so the family bar stays. I probably won't get rid of it after he's out either. I just don't care enough about how it looks to do that.

Ahhh I see itís the whole cover now. Would be nice if someone made a soft top cover similar to that. Can only find one for a JK.
