Think its worth it

Have a brand new sunrider best top soft top and half hard doors with slider uppers think it's worth trading for a hard top and hard doors

No, I would hold on to it. It will be much more costly to replace all of your soft top equipment new then to pick up a hardtop used. Just be patient and watch the listings, you should be able to pick up a hardtop for 200-400 dollars.

If you are set on a hardtop and you do not plan on changing it back, then the deal is only worth as much as it is to you... If that makes any sense. I have traded much more valuable items to people just to get what I want/need, so I know how it goes.

You are right on that it would be costly to get back everything but I have a barn it can go in in the summer time so I can leave the top off

I agree with the previous post, your stuff is worth a lot more than a hardtop. I would keep it. Your sliders alone are selling for what a lot of hard tops sell for.

It does kinda matter where you are, in my area a good used hard top goes for $900 on Craigslist...
Full doors in good condition go for $700-800!

I am in Pa., and a hard top in good condition here goes for as high as $1200, full doors for $800-$1000 for the pair.

A new aftermarket hardtop is around $2500-$3000, as well as new full doors are around $600- $1000 ea. Depending on the options you get with them.

If I were doing it, I would keep the soft top for now, and search for the hard top option. I have both. Yeah, the hard top is nice in the winter, its quieter, but is it warmer? somewhat but not enough to make a difference. About the only advantages I can see about having a hard top is:

You can open the rear hatch without having to fight a frozen zipper.

You can scrape the ice off of the side windows in the back.

You get a quieter ride.

I figured it would be a lot warmer then I guess it's really not worth doing and i'll probably wish I had my soft top back in the summer time

No way would I trade my soft top gear for a hard top. I have a soft top with soft half doors and uppers. The heater has kept me warm so far. I'm not even considering looking for a hard top. If you don't mind the sound of riding around in a tent then forget looking for a hard top.

The doors with sliders are worth the price of a used hard top alone.

Theft prevention.
Personally I want to keep my stereo, and the rest of my goodies, with a soft top, my Subs and other valuable cargo is a sharp blade away from being in someone else's possession.
With a hard top, they have to break glass, unlock, and then remove. and Im always near my Jeep, Garage, or Work (where I am always about 5-10 seconds from, AND its parked in cameras view)...

When thieves see a hard top, they move on to a convertible, or open window.

Trust me on this.....thieves will break windows if you have something they want. Thieves don't skip hard tops. They skip vehicles that don't contain things to steal. A thief will break a window just as quick as cutting a soft top. I had a truck and a thief caused $800 in damage breaking in and destroying my dash to steal a $100 stereo.

After running a hard top and fuill doors for 7 years, only one break in, and they didnt get my stereo, but they got my battery.
Installed a hood lock, solved that.

I used to live in a Condo and had no place to park, I was parking in a strip mall behind the complex then.
Now its in the garage (totaled due to a traffic accident, but as soon as I replace it my newer Jeep will be in the garage too).

Location matters too.

I like having a soft top and all but I just think a hard top would be a little nicer with hard doors

really it i just personal preference. if you think you want a hard top then it is a matter of what a hard top is worth to you. i have one on now here in sc just because we have had so much rain and the mud is everywhere. i worry about staining the soft top with mud and the hard top is easier to clean. i got lucky and got both tops with my jeep. if it was dry it would be soft top or no top all year round.

Yeah I wish it was really nice year round I'd have no top. I think I am going to trade because when it's summer it'll have no top no doors and I can put it in a barn so i'll trade as soon as I find someone but that seems kinda hard
