Thoughts on this '91 Wrangler?

I really dig the look of 90s Wrangler and I have been perusing CL for a week or so. Most of it is out of my price range but I found one which reportedly needs a battery, door handles and a master slave cylinder. I took a quick look at what is involved in the cylinder replacement and I'm confident I can knock that out in an afternoon. Here is a link to get a better idea of what I'm looking at:

https://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/...618018200.html

I have no experience with Jeeps other than what I researched. This one fits the bill perfectly for me, 6 cyl/4L for better highway movement, modifications already done, the cool 90s look. I already sent him a message asking about various things but I wanted some opinions from Jeep owners. He includes a picture of the undercarriage, does that seem like too much rust? Anything else that pops out with this one?

Thank you, sorry if this gets asked a lot but I wasn't really sure where else to ask. Everyone I know that has a Jeep has a 2010 or younger.

I would go for it. Although I'm not sure how an owner would think his 4.0 is a v6 unless he himself just acquired it and has no idea about jeeps. Look into the legal documents and make sure it's good to do. That is the sketchy part to me. The hardtop is worth nearly half his asking price. There doesn't appear to be that much rust, it could just be surface rust.

Seems like a good deal to me. Heck you could buy it and throw $5k into it and still be below what I paid for mine.

The repairs sound simple enough.

I'm assuming the doubt of the V6 is the engine orientation not the cylinder count? Are these inline engines? Thanks again for the reply, I was planning on a carfax report at the very least.

Yes the 4.0 is an inline six.

My point is that the current owner is probably not the owner who built it. He might have gotten it as a trade and wheeled the piss out of it. The title and registration is my main concern. Make sure it isn't stolen or title jumped.

I would also bring a jump box with you so that you can here it run. If it runs and has a clear title jump on that is a great price.

The seller must think he's a hot shot photographer. The pics are pretty dramatic and don't show squat about the vehicle.
The pic of the undercarriage doesn't show the areas of rust concern.

I'd be concerned about if the listed items are all that's wrong with it, why doesn't the seller fix it and get more for it than the repairs cost.

Ask to see the title before handing over any money. This is a HARD and FAST rule when buying a private party vehicle. No clean title...no sale.
The woods are full of stories:
My girlfriend has it at her house.
I'll give you a bill of sale and all you have to do is go to the state and get the title.
I lost the title. Just buy the vehicle and I'll bring you the title when I get it from the state.

I'd gladly pay you Thursday for a hamburger today. Don't listen to any BS.

All that said, for $2100.00 it looks like a good parts Jeep. Title or not.

Good Luck, L.M.

If there was a sketchy title or none at all I would briskly walk away. CL description says the title is clean but I'll see what he has. Are there better, specific places to look for rust?

The only way is to go look at it, ask to see the title and crawl all over it inspecting everthing

Thanks for all the input. If he gets back to me I'll take a look.
