Time to paint the hardtop!

Well, since it's summer time I figured I should get to spending money. I want to paint my black hardtop some color other than black, because I live in the desert, and black is not the best color for deflecting heat. What color would look good on top of a rio grande that has a spice interior and a grey/brown/beige exterior(you know the color)? I'm thinking get as close to the exterior color as possible, but I don't know how close I'll get. Any suggestions on color and brand? I am also going to paint all the other exterior add ons such as mirrors, wipers, handle, and pretty much anything else that is black on the exterior. These I will be painting with some kind of black paint, but have not decided on texture/finish or brand. Any advise will be helpful! Thanks folks!

Las Vegas here I went with white. Spray bomb worked great.

I would do white, too.

But if you want to match the spice, look for the color "nutmeg". Its usually a close match. I rattle canned a hard top in nutmeg and it looked great.

Any common brand will work, but look for semi- flat, or flat. The glossier the paint, the more "off " it looks.

That white looks good, I'll look into the nutmeg tomorrow if I get some time to run by home depot.

My vote is for the spice color. I rattle canned my hard top three years ago, and it's held up just fine. It "goes" with the other parts of the Jeep, so in my opinion it looks great. Mine's a green Sahara though, so it looks kind of like it's "supposed to" ..

Good luck!

I would shoot for a complimentary color and not a match color. If you try to match and it isn't perfect, it will look off. I have used a Krylon spray that was close to saddle brown before on my Jeep interior. I think it would be a good match for your hard top. It's basically an orange/brown clay color. I think that would be a good color for a desert Jeep.
