Tires what should I buy?

I hate buying tires!! They cost so much money it is crazy! but its time to get some new tread for the YJ. Does anyone know where to buy the cheapest tires? And what brands have you guys had the best luck with? I love the general grabbers with the red letters but for 31's it is like 2 something a tire. Lets put it this way I want a 31 x 10.50 x 15 as close to 100 per tire as I can get. Let me know what you guys find?

Can you afford to spread the love over a couple of pay periods? $100 price range will hardly get you stock sized street tread these days! The cheapest I found in a brief search was Wal-Mart at $160/tire (minus mount, balance and stem).

That's what I'm saying I can afford the Grabbers but I cant stand shelling out all that money for tires. It makes me mad that rubber can cost so much. Oh well I guess ill just shell out the money for what I want or like you said spread it out

I'd check Craigslist. I often see good new 31" tire sets for sale - mostly from people upgrading to larger tires.

I just bought five Dunlop Mud Rovers from tire rack. Paid 151 a piece. Course I'm not far from their warehouse and picked em up so I didn't have to pay for shipping. I also have access to a mounting machine, so I'm lucky. I used the tire balancing beads to balance. Found it for $1 an ounce on eBay.

Only have about 200 miles on em but I am happy so far. They are way better than the Trxus tires I had last.

Goodyear is the cheapest tire dealer in my area, and shipping adds to much to make it worthwhile to get mail order. What would you guys say the best bang for the buck goodyear tire, tread wear, noise and rock-sand wheeling would be?

The Duratracs are popular around here. I've never owned a set myself, but they're quite popular on the site.

Duratracs are a great tire all the law enforcement that patrol the mountains in the ski areas run them on their trucks and suv's. I may pick up a set for my XJ if I don't pounce on a deal I found with 5. 33" MTR's for 875 that have 85% tread left

They're a good looking tire, the tread design reminds me of the old mud & snow tires GY had years ago.

Here's the deal I'm looking at:
☺Special On Mud Tires - 15,16,17
Wild Country MTX ... you can get a set of 4 for $600
Unless you find a good used set, that's about the best price I've found.

I ran Goodyear Wrangler on my truck and my jeep, as well as all my family had them on their trucks/suv's. Have had BFG TA KO's on my jeep for 6 months and absolutely love em. About the same noise level, on road handling is about identical as well, only difference I've noticed is the off-road in loose rock. The tread I believe is a little thicker so you can get more grip. All in all, I'll probly continue to run the BFG's.
