top off with rain?

I really want to take the top off my 93 YJ sometime soon, but I dont have an emergency rain top.... with iowa weather it is beautiful one second and crappy the next so my question is, how much damage, obviously other than wet seats/carpet would be done if my jeep got rained on? Would it damage the dash electronics and whatnot? Do you guys just keep an emergency top in the jeep for times like these?

it wont hurt anything, just wipe off your radio etc if its drenched, and take out your drain plugs. i just rhino lined my tub so it won't rust or anything from built up moisture, i recommend you do the same, it looks cool and gives great protection

I running mine topless since start of may. Chicago been raining now stop. Inside tub is rhino lined so no problem just take plugs out. And if you want to protect seats get seat cover on them.

Sweet! Thanks for the input fellas. I just wasn't sure if the water would damage the dash electronics or not. Sounds like the top is comin off!!!

you can also use motorcycle mirrors in the slots for the door hinges

And if you are really worried about the dash, keep a construction size garbage bag in your toolkit.

I also ran into an issue, if your drain plugs are out and your running in the rain sometimes water will come up through them from flying off the tires and you'll be standing in a puddle all of a sudden

The only damage that occasionally occurs from leaving the top off is problems with the turn signal stalk. Once it gets wet it will occasionally cut out on you. Generally speaking, once it dries out it works fine again, though occasionally you may need to pull the steering wheel off and spray it our or replace the turn signal cam.

I'm topless until its to cold to even go to work with my bib carhart suit on and goggles haha. I only have seats in the jeep rest is bedliner and no plugs. Just floor matts so when you drive in water it won't shoot straight up your lap ahah. No issues at all and I have ad the hose staright pouring into all the vents. Dont' suggest it but all is good to go.

Its summer go for it. Do what I do, center console keeps a HUGE black garbage bag rolled up so i can slip it over the seat if starting to rain.

Love the look of the jeep man. I really really want some nice seats one day. i think ist the last thing to give the Jeep its final touch, and not looking like junk. And bikini top is the answer wish I would just order one. Need to square away all these driveshaft issues and traction bars first I guesss....

I rarely take top off but keep doors and windows off all summer. Keep poncho in back I slip on driver seat in case of rain.

With doors and windows off its pretty much like the top is off anyway! Especially when you have a bikini top

Driving in rain with the bikini top on even with doors on and the windows rolled will allow the mist off your tires to fly forward in the cab and get on the windshield, and you french fries and your pop...

Not that it stops me from doing it.

Finally pulled the top off today! Took her out for a test drive earlier and MAN! what a difference! I love it!! I will eventually get some decent waterproof seat covers for it, but will prolly just keep a couple big trash bags on hand till then. I know, classy, right?

There's a couple up front on either side some behind front seats n some in rear area. Just look for round plug with a cross on top. They shouldn't be too hard y
Unless its lined. Just get a putty knife or flat head screwdriver n they should pop right out

I keep two ponchos in the jeep to put on seat.
