Turn signals

Need some help with 88 YJ turn signal diagnosis:

Both front amber lights come on with the headlights.

Right side
Front, rear and dash indicator blink properly.

Left side
Only the rear blinks. Left front does not blink, and dash indicator does not light up at all.

Any suggestions?

Cheap and easy things first.

1- Check your bulbs. Remove the bulb (all 4), visually inspect it and the socket. If the bulb looks good, reinstall it with a dab of dielectric grease.

2- Check your grounds. One on each side of the inside of the grill panel near the headlights and one up behind the drivers side rear tire. Remove the ring terminal, scrape or sand the mounting area to shiny bare metal. Scrub the ring terminal with a wire brush by hand and put them back together with a dab of dielectric grease.

3- Check your front side marker bulbs and sockets. Another dab of dielectric grease in the sockets here too.

Once you've done the above, post again if you're still having problems.

Good Luck, L.M.

My guess would be the turn signal unit behind the steering wheel. It not only has the turn signals going trough it but also the brake and front parking lights as well.
