Under Hood Temps?

My YJ runs right at 210 at stop and go traffic around town and a little lower on Hgwy. (Replaced the radiator and thermo and fan clutch) Just curious what everyone elses runs at? Note: I do live in SFL and summertime is very sticky here.

210 is exactly where a YJ runs. That's normal.

Well....Howdy neighbor!!! (You probably see me running around in mine. On the windshield in white says MAINE GROWN). In the winter time now it has dropped a few degrees. Just wanted to make sure temp wise with other people what they are running at. (Everytime I lift the hood after running a bit, that 4.2 puts out some HEAT!!!)

Here in SW Ohio, my gauge never seems to get above 170, but I don't know how accurate the gauge is. The heater works well, but I wonder if it would be better if the engine ran a bit hotter. Maybe I'll swap out t-stats and put a 190 in there. I'm not sure what stat is in there now.

My 4.2 runs 210deg., if your running a 195deg.thermostat the gague should show around 210deg., if 180 deg. You'll show about 195, and a 160 will show about 175, the sender is back in the head and it takes a minimum of the temp shown, before it opens so they run about 15degs more if your system work well.
That's just what I've seen.

So I might have a 160 (oem temp) in there now if my gauge is reading 170ish? Do you, or any others change t-stats according to season, or jus run the same year round?
