From what I've read that's about what it cost!

If you are going to pay someone else to do it I would forgo the whole idea and buy what you want.

Doing it yourself is time consuming and still somewhat expensive but not that high and you know hat you have when your done.

Engine and axle swaps are not cheap. Nor is skilled labor. Sometimes buying a built jeep can be cheaper

I would search for a PROPERLY set up 8cyl conversion if I didn't have the skills and tools to do the job myself. Sometimes guys get tired of a particular hobby or get a divorce.
Start your research now so that you can recognize a good deal when you find one.

It may take some time to find a good deal, but if you have some cash stashed, you might advertise for a V8 Wrangler, then sell your current Jeep.

Good Luck, L.M.

Unless they are done right they are worth very little. Usually just the value of the component parts (no value at all as a drivable vehicle).
Really even less than the value of the component parts because you have to disassemble it to sell the parts.

The reason that folks want to sell the Jeeps with "problems" is that to do it right costs too much and their cobbled up mess keeps breaking or they are in over their head and don't have the money to finish it.
You can always make a lowball offer and walk away and wait for the phone call to accept your offer when they can't get someone to step in their crap.

Good Luck, L.M.

Wait a while to see if he comes down in price. Let him know you are interested but don't feel he has presented a good value.

Good Luck, L.M.

You may have to travel around a bit to find what you are looking for. Look at each one as a learning adventure.

Sometimes you have to kiss a bunch of frogs before you find a prince(ss).

Good Luck, L.M.
