Vent Scoop Debate

I bought a vent scoop for my YJ. The debate, is it best mounted with the opened towards or away from the windshield? The purpose of the vent scoop is to increase a/c and heater efficiency. Depending on the brand I've seen it mounted in either directions.

The debate has been going on for many years.
I wrote a college term paper on it a long time ago after doing exhaustive research and testing.
My findings were complete and irrefutable.
The night before I was to turn the paper in my dog ate it.
I failed the class. It ultimately led to me quitting school and becoming an exotic dancer.

Sorry, can't remember what the findings were.

Good Luck.

Vent Scoop Debate

I think itís designed to capture wind pushed down the windshield by mounting it towards the glass. Itís what I did. I noticed better flow, but that may just be me. I also installed a new heater duct inside which increased the air flow as well.

I think they look better facing windshield anyway.

welded mine shut cause it'd be nothing but a mud intake. Pontiac figured out the base of the windshield pressure differential when designing the shaker scoop for the T/A. What went on the car was out of the zone and they knew it, but that's styling dept. for you. Titus ran his T/A with the hood jacked on the hinges at the back. Led to the cowl induction hoods as we know them today.

I bought two scoops to put one on each way, but the night before I was going to mount them I went to the club and accidently saw Raoul dancing there.
It scared me so badly that I forgot where I put them and to this day, I still haven't found them. Nowdays I just open my wing window.

Good Luck, L.M.
