Nice looking YJ!

Its value can be anywhere - depends on your location.

My question is - could you get the automatic behind the 2.5 in '95? I thought that option started with the TJ's.

Rust free in my neck of the woods, for a 4 banger auto would be in the $2500-$3500 range.

I paid $7300 for my rust free, standard, bone stock (except for upgraded wheels) RG in New Mexico.

Location is key on purchasing Jeeps. I bought my 95 4.0 auto with 80k miles for $6500. It came with aftermarket rims and 31s. It was well maintained with water pump and belt replaced and new brakes (which isn't big deal, it just shows that they stayed up on stuff). And most important no rust. I live in California where Wrangler go for a small down payment for a house.

My two cents...I would steer away from 2.5l. Especially if it will be a daily driver. It's dangerous merging those on the freeway at least where I live. So figure out the purpose of why you are buying it. Check for rust, frame and where the roll bar joins the tub, etc (tap on those locations will a hammer). Be meticulous about finding rust. It is expensive to fix if you can't weld or have the equipment to weld and fix it yourself.

I wouldn't pay more than 2k for a 2.5l unless it is spot less and the mods (if there are any) are done professionally. Don't be in a hurry to busy unless of course it's a DD and you NEED it now. But if that the case you may not want a wrangler anyway. Just may thoughts.

Good luck

Forgot to mention, 4.0l engines were going for about double for a stock well maintained one. Poorly maintained 4.0l engines are around 10k, and my 2.5l runs just as well as the poorly maintained 4.0l jeeps I test drove.

I'm not trying to drive anybody away from the 4.0l, I mean who doesn't want a bigger engine?! I'm just trying to show that the 2.5l has capability to be a great engine, and can do what you need it to do.

I understood that but your wording said to me, "my 2.5 4-cylinder runs just as good as a ragged 4.0....."

It's the way you phrased it. Comparing your engine to a "poorly maintained" engine makes someone focus on the poorly maintained or, that the engine you have runs not so good.

Ok, I see where my phrasing may have been confusing. Maybe I shouldve paid more attention in English class last year...

Assuming the inside is as nice as the outside that Jeep would easily sell for $6K out here in NC. Probably more. Wish mine looked that nice. Soon, real soon...
