To celebrate this Fourth of July, Our Independence and 2nd year anniversary since acquiring this 1990 YJ, Little Blackie got new shoes. 30"x10.5" R15 X3 General Grabbers and a 15% rebate from Discount tires. As a bonus, I painted the front brake calipers with VHT high temp yellow paint, although not really that visible thru the wheels.

Replaced the clutch slave cylinder today. I replaced it 3 years ago and it was still under warranty. Every time this thing goes bad and i drain the fluid in it it it black. I am not sure if the fluid is burnt from heat from the exhaust or maybe it's just rubber from disintegrating o-rings.

UPS delivered my Smittybilt full bikini top I ordered Monday. So I put it on today. Very happy with the fit! Much nicer than roasting in the direct sun now.

Finally had a day off to do my new rear springs. funny how my 2.5" Rancho lift became a 1"and1.5" lift. Couldn't believe how much the Ranchos Flattened out. They came with when I bought the jeep 3 years ago, so no telling how old they are, but wow, just lost a lot of respect for Rancho.

Installed new 2.5" RE springs, Poly bushings all around, new greaseable shackle bolts, a little paint, and well as long as the ass was up in the air and the axle on the floor I went ahead and cleaned and changed the diff fluid and threw on a new lubelocker gasket.

Does that slide into the channel on the windshield frame like the bestop or need more parts to install?

I installed a YETI Tundra 45 on my fender and it fits perfect. Not enough room to open the lid all the way but you can reach in and grab a bottle of water quick if needed.

I strapped it to a D ring mounted on my roll bar mount and to the Hilift jack mount i made in the rear and it holds solid.

Replaced the 2.5* shims with 6* and vibe disappeared, still think I'd like a little closer angle on the pinion to driveshaft, but waiting to see how it looks once everything settles in.

Thoughts anyone?

Ended up with a little less vibration but still noticeable at a little higher speed than I remembered, so I fabbed myself a 1" TC Drop out of a spare set of 1.25" Leaf spring bushings, A stack of washers, and some longer grade 8 Bolts. Got out on the highway and finally running as before the lift and maybe just a tad smoother.

So with a 1" drop and 6* shims I'm looking into getting a new set of perches and welding up to the correct angle rather than all the correcting stuff I got going on. Any suggestions on quality at a decent price before I go ordering something I won't be satisfied with??

While I was contemplating the options after my new springs, I thought these were pretty cool, they also have some upgraded standard perches

I finally got a new timing light and got the timing set properly. The 5.7 seems to be happier now. We will see if it helps with my hot starting.

I got my Hi-Lift jack mount made after putting it off forever. It's not completely square because i couldn't get my band saw to cut straight. It is good enough and it works well so i might try to make another in the future out of round tube and make it more aesthetically pleasing than angle and square tube.

It fit's well though but you do have to pull the bottom plate off the jack to slide it off the mounting studs or else it will hit the tub. But it is really quick to do if you change out the cotter pin with a quick release pin. The jack is out of the way and out of the weather (with the top on). It bolts to the factory holes for the seat belt mounts.

I drove my YJ over to my parent's house and replaced the heater hoses on his 67 Jeepster Commando. Got it all put back together and we went out for a drive. Then I drove my YJ home and felt sad for all the people who had doors on their vehicles.

Today was awesome!

Installed a spider web shade cage. I'm hoping that it will slow the rain blowback down.

Also, installed our new rampage flameless top.

I ordered a new NTK crankshaft position sensor as preventive maintenance since mine has been on my jeep for 25 years and 120K. The NTK CPS is extremely hard to find for the manual transmission rockauto and others list it for the automatic but not the manual. But if you go to https://www.ngk.com you can look it up in the vehicle search and the part number is EH0245. They also sell most of the other sensors for 4.0 YJ's

And they are running a promotion for a free NGK t-shirt if you add the shirt to your cart and apply the discount code. https://www.ngk.com/learning-center/...s-and-specials

Steering Stabilizer

After a heinous ordeal that finally resulted in drilling the old crown bolt out. New Rancho stabilizer installed. Made a huge difference in steering slop. Old one was oem. Starting on shocks tomorrow.

Friday I started converting the AC to R134A. I fabbed the hoses and got everything installed except the two flare to O-ring adapters I was missing. Just waiting on the mail man... Was all proud of my self.

Then this happened! Daughter was on the way to church and the transmission died. Does nothing when in gear and grinds going back into park. I had been looking for a used transmission to rebuild, but didn't find one in time. Going to take it to a shop tomorrow.
