What is the distributor wiring harness?

Hey all, my friend is trying to sell her jeep, but she needs to get something fixed since it's not starting. A mechanic that looked at it said there was a corroded distributor module wire that was the cause of it not starting. He said to fix it, the whole wiring harness is needed. Now, we've been searching everywhere for what he calls a "distributor wiring harness" but all's we find is "dash wiring harness" and "engine wiring harness" and none of the shops we called heard of a "distributor wiring harness". So we were hoping someone here could help us out! Is the engine wiring harness the same thing as a distributor wiring harness? Does a wiring harness come with the module wire or are they two separate things?

P.S. It's a '95 2.5L 4-cylinder.

Thanks in advance!

I would look for a different mechanic.

There is no separate Distributor wiring harness. Its all a part of the main harness or engine wiring harness. The module in the distributor (better known as the cam sensor) has its own harness that comes with it and plugs into the engine wiring harness.

'87 YJ, 4.2L built and bored, 8" of lift, 8.8 rear, AX15/NP 231J, Tom Woods drive shafts, Flat fenders, 12,000LB winch, Custom bumpers, Rattle can paint job. Never completed...

Thank you for the info! So the main harness is the same thing as the engine harness? Maybe the guy doesn't know what he's talking about, because my friend had the cam sensor replaced. Unless he means a wire connecting from that to something else was corroded.

There is a wire coming from the bottom of the distributor that plugs into the main wiring harness. That maybe what he was referring too. If that's bad its a $41 part but u have to remove the whole distributor at least that's how mine was. For $49 after shipping I got a new distributor or a remanfactured one that came with a new cap and rotor from Rock Auto.com
