What is this??

Hello - I have started a builders corner page called "92 Wrangler from the beginin" and I posted this there but I thought maybe more people would see and possibly help me if I posted here in the YJ section. My 92 has an 89 tub and I was wondering if anyone knows what the box is just above and 2 the right of the accelerator pedal?? I cant find anything that goes 2 it? Is this something I dont need now that its a 92? Thanks for any help!!

Bill - Here is a picture-

Emission Maintenance Timer

That is the emission maintenance timer. After approximately 68,000 miles that switches an "Emmission Maint." light on the gauge cluster, which would remind the driver that he needed to take the vehicle in to the local Jeep garage for an emission system check and/or tune-up and the installation of a new timer. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL ENGINE OPERATING PERFORMANCE like today's CHECK ENGINE lights do. The first time this timer light's the light it will stay on until it is replaced, so most owners just disconnected it to get the light to shut=off. Cheers.
