what oil u run?

Hello jeep bretheren. I joined a few months ago and havent been on in a while. When I joined I had a broke collar bone now Im back to work and have to make and appointment for a bm. LOL. Anyway good to get a little time to shoot the bull. I have a 95 YJ that I love and take good care of. My maintainance regement is on the anal side. Here lately it is useing a little oil. It doesnt leak a drop and it doesnt smoke at all. I was useing Mobil 1 synthetic extended performance oil. But it was useing about 2 quarts between oil changes. I changed over to rotella T6 5w 40 and it uses less but is still useing some oil. The mobil was 5w 30 or 10w 30 according to time of year. I have heard valvoline max life is good in high mileage motors. I want to run 40 weight in the summer. Is the thicker oil what made the oil consumtion ( cant spell for $h1t ) go down or is it cause rotella t6 is highly refined dino oil and not true synthetic. Anyway its about to roll over to 177000 miles and Im thinking of trying The synthetic max life to see is it helps. Buy the way my o.c.i.'s are 5000 miles with the synthetic oil and when I ran regular dino oil i changed it at 3000. What do u run in your 4.0 and how many miles has it got. Did yours ever use oil with one type of oil and not another? KEEP JEEPIN!

If your rings are tired thay cant wipe the heavy oil off the cylinder walls. It will then use more oil with heavy oil. If it uses more oil with the lighter weight oil then your valve guides are worn, lighter oil runs down the guides quicker. I use 5-30 year round, doesnt use a drop of oil at 148,000.

I have a 92 YJ with a 2.5 and 180,000 miles. I use Castrol full syn with Lucas Oil stabilizer, and twice a year I add a can of engine restore. Still runs like a champ.

I run Mobil 1 10w-30 (3qts) to one quart of lucas syn. stabilizer. I change it every year or so, or whenever I feel like it needs new. Usually between 7500 and 10000 miles. 2.5L, 157k

fyi the book calls for 10w30 with the use of 5w30 in extremely cold weather, just sayin
