What paint

I have been reading all kinds of posts on painting jeeps with rattle cans but none really tell you what they used . I would like to do mine in yellow satin . Anybody recommend a brand that will hold up .
Paul

For the money you would spend in rattle cans... you should use raptor liner. I Did my whole exterior. Looks great and holds up very well. Cost was 110 shipped. Comes with spray gun. . Just need an air comp. Prep was a day.. spray was 5 hours. 3 coats with 1.5 hours in between dry time. Let sit for 3-5 days to fully cure

Do you have any pics?! I've been thinking about that for months just never got around to it...any cons you have experienced?

Rattle Cans are OK. I have painted mine a couple times with it. The main issue is that the color fades pretty quickly. I have had the best luck with Krylon. I used cheap stuff once and part of my graphics were orange and it faded to pink in a couple months. I re-sprayed that part with Krylon and it took a few years to noticeably fade.

This paint job is about 7 years old. the Green Krylon camo paint has faded pretty bad, but the flames have help up pretty well.

Yep, I spent about 100 on mine but I also didn't cut corners and did multiple coats, sanding, and clear.

Krylon is what I've heard to be the best option. Plus if you can find lil jeep family on YouTube he has a great video on it

In my opinion, the most important part is the clear coat. If you are using rattle cans (which I did on my 94) you'll want to find K2 clear coat. It's a two component paint, you have to break open a seal inside the can to allow the components to mix.

Also, you have to wear a respirator while you use it!!!!

You can find this kind of clear coat in rattle cans at automotivetouchup.com and also the respirator.

The inexpensive one-component clearcoat found at your local auto store is much lower quality and will not hold up.

Just two cents.

Have fun!

I used Monstaliner inside and out on my jeep and love it. They have a large assortment of colors and you can roll it or spray it.

My Jeep is 89 faded red. 90 red full doors. A few spots of 2 different Rust-O-Leum reds. Black around the bottom from the PO. A few nicks touched up with Snap-On red touch up paint. Gray hard top is now flat black from PO with scrapes of grey showing through. Remnants of the spray on liner on the inside that i pulled off (very easily by the way) Plenty of natural Iron Oxide color. I think it looks okay. But then again, I don't really care.

Go for the cheapest route available. It is going to rust anyway.

Whatever rattle cans you use, prep the surface really well to make it look good and long lasting.
