What to do?

Hi all and thanks in advance. I have an opportunity for a 1987 wrangler Laredo. 50k miles, body is solid and only two small spots of rust. Problem is the motor is no good. So I’m looking for suggestions. The reading I’ve done on my own leads to dropping a 4.0 in it and going efi. I drive a 2017 F250 6.7 powerstroke so this will be my around the town ride for running errands. 2.5 lift for larger tires and rims for appearance would be a must as well.

Check the rear frame rails thoroughly.
But yes you can install a 4.0. You’ll need the complete 4.0, pcm, part of the wiring harness, etc. And you’ll need to do some wiring to make it all work.

Just curious, what motor is in there now? Can you just rebuild that one? Maybe 'juice it up" a bit? Maybe yank the 6.7 out'a the truck and slip it in there?
If I ever ask you if you want me to be honest with you, say no.

It has the 4.2 in it. Not sure it can be rebuilt or not. I’m going to go look at it hopefully on Monday. It’s being given to me so I’ll have nothing vested as far as purchase price. The 6.7 in it would be a beast for sure!! Lol!

Well I would certainly not put a quick tickin six back in it. If you are going through the trouble you might as well do an LS.
DAMN! These things are expensive.
