I think I could do a chevy conversion cause I got a bunch of chevy stuff. The lt1 of the 94-96 vintage has 260hp and 330lb-ft torque. The cummins 4BT has 130 hp and some say 260lb-ft torque and others say 340-360lb-ft torque.and get probably mid 30's mpg-38mpg. Lots of torque, better mileage and it has same internal components as the 5.9L diesel that they are putting in the dodge ram trucks with the diesel that is almost ledgendary.I'd love to have one in my yj if I knew more about the diesels and would love to try it. I do have an 81 volvo dl with a 350 chevy and a turbo400 with stock 4:10 rearend. But I feel just a bit intimidated by the 4BT swap.......Driller

I am a diesel guy and a class 8 technician. I don't really care what brand they're better than any gasser to begin with. I still want to do a 4bt in a Jeep but maybe a TJ. I've never seen a Duramax in a Jeep so that would be cool but crazy expensive. It may be easier to find a wrecked 2500 with a good frame and put the Jeep body on the truck chassis. I would say $5000-$8000. I would say around the same for a later model Ford 7.3 or 6.0 Powerstroke. Probably about the same for the 5.9 Cummins.

If you want to use the Jeep frame and upgrade your axles then a Chevy 6.2 or 6.5 and yes a 4bt.
