Why does Quadratec sell us parts that don't fit?

Bought a new set of visors for my YJ and they are too big to fit and the brackets don't match the factory holes in the windsheid frame. I'm tired of returning crap parts. I bought a rearview mirror from them too and had to return it. Much too big for a YJ. You would think a company that specializes in Jeep parts would make sure they fit and work properly.

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that this is not fitting right for you. The metal mounting brackets on the visor are adjustable and can be pulled out or pushed back into the visor. Can you please PM me your order # and the part # on the box/plastic itself?

Thanks & have a great night!

-Rick

It's not just the brackets not working. The visors are way too long to fit, they hit the mirror.

I've had several issues with parts from them. But their customer service is solid.

I have had good success with Quadratec. But with these older Jeeps, lots of parts can get replaced over time. Is your mirror stock? I have tried to replace mine before and the stock rear-view mirror is shorter (narrower) than most vehicles!

Quadratec is just a parts dealer, they can't control the part quality. That said, I wish they'd spend more time/resources weeding out the low quality parts from their catalog.

Returning parts is annoying, especially when I have to pay shipping to return an inferior part, and shipping gets expensive on warped sheet metal replacement panels due to size. Basically, if I have to spend hours reworking a supposedly direct-fit part to fit correctly, I might as well just start with sheet stock.

Same here. I like Quadratec, I order parts all the time. Just wish they would get into manufacturing some parts to get a grip on quality and correct fitment. Also would be nice if they carried all the parts involved in a project. Example, I need to replace all 3 cables for my heater/vent system. Quadratec only carries one of them. It's a omix-ada part and they do make the others, so why doesn't Quadratec carry all 3? I ordered the one they have and hope it fits and works.

Had the same mirror issue. Tried 4 different places and kept getting a 9.5" wide one. Ended up going to advanced auto. Needs to be 8.5" wide.

Aftermarket parts are just that...aftermarket. If you want parts guaranteed to fit, order them from the dealer. If the dealer doesn't make them anymore, get the parts from a junkyard. If that doesn't work...deal with the aftermarket and make it work. It's a 25 year old "throw-away" vehicle after all, just deal with it. Not like you are restoring a Duesenburg...you are trying to replace parts on a Jeep. Figure it out & deal with it!

i will get the advance auto part number when i get home later tonight. I did try the dealer and they can only get the 9.5" mirror even though their computer says 8.5". trust me it was a nightmare that went on for 6+ months.

Wow, you're that wound up at 5am?
Point taken, I'm sure nobody here is trying to achieve a 100 point restoration on our "Throw Away" Jeeps. What I'm saying is if you're going to sell parts, make sure they fit and are made to last thru the installation at least. I bought replacement doors panels and they're warping with the heat now. It hasn't been a week since I brought my jeep back from the shop. This all started with some visors I ordered that were way too long to work on my YJ. Would it have been that hard to use an original to copy? At least in length, where we all know there wasn't that much space to begin with. It's about caring about what you sell, we know others do it but should we always expect it ? I know some guys make things work and that's fine.

Yeah I usually am...and it goes downhill from there! Sorry.

I guess my point is always a crap shoot. Sometimes stuff fits right & works the way it should, other times the stuff you get is pure GARBAGE.

I bought 2 front power window regulators for my wife's car. Aftermarket. eBay. They fit, sort of, but I knew they were not quite right. 6 months later, one was broken & the other was breaking. I am out about $80 bucks plus my time. I bought OEM ones for $140 each, they fit perfect and they still work 5 years later.

Just saying.

I order regularly from Quadratec. While I've never had problems directly related to them or their customer service, I have had several incidents where items I've purchased from them were/are less than the quality I would expect. Poor fit, poor quality and cheap materials, etc. I'm 54 years old and I will say that I have definitely notice a decrease in quality of so many things we now buy. Shoes, clothes and just about everything else has declined in quality over the years. I guess that trend is every where and we get the short end because of it. Maybe too many things made in Taiwan, China and Vietnam. Maybe it is companies that accept these less than "quality" items and sell them to us, the consumer. Still, it is frustrating, but I don't expect anything to change for the better anytime soon. As a matter of fact, I see it getting worse.

Well I'm about to give up myself then.
I purchased the Firepower ignition kit from again Quadratec and just installed it yesterday. I now have a problem. Think it's the coil, it starts and runs fine then just cuts off. My son had to push it hm today. I looked at everything and made sure all plug wires clicked on and were connected, also wire to coil was locked in place. The problem here is I bought it from Quadratec but the parts are from somewhere else so I'm not sure about warranty. My luck since I bought it earlier this summer and waited a few months to install I'm out of luck. Let's see.

Update on last gripe. Called Quadratec and told them about my problems with the FirePower ignition kit. The guy (Greg) was very helpful and explained to me that you must reset the computer anytime you make these types of changes to engine components. He walked me thru the whole thing and now I have a running Jeep. I'm happy now. Lol

FYI, on the mirror I got one from Amazon for 10 bucks, 8.5 inch. 6 months and no problem, no vibration. As too other parts I have bought from many "jeep" aftermarket companies and all I can say is they all give good service when something goes wrong. They are not in the business of making parts they are most all resellers.

It is true quality is a crap shoot but if it were not for what they carry there may not be anything for you to buy at all. Atleast when we are frustrated the folks at QT and others help us out. Like your ignition situation, you may have assumed it was the parts but in the end good service helped out.

I think many of the tech guys have jeeps too, bet they feel our frustrations when they get parts too.
