I looked under my hood and saw that my steering shaft is very loose you can acyually shake it and you can see where it is loose I have a stock pitman. Does anyone thing that a longer pitman will help this prob, or do I need a new steering shaft.

sounds like you need to inspect the shaft a little closer and find out why it is loose. the pitman arm would have little to do with it since it is on the other side of the steering box. you said you can see where it is loose, is there a set screw missing or something of that sort?

my two bits are inspect the shaft and figure out why it is loose.
