Will this Kill my Jeep?

Ya always gotta have interesting titles if ya want anybody to read your thread nowadays

Anywho, recently my Front Left Axle joint had been "seizing" but not really, just on turns at full rotation. At ful wheel turn if I try and drive the wheel will bump in and out (this is really hard to explain)

After about half of the tire rotation the joint will push the tire back towards straight about 1-2" for a second and then turn it back as it rotates.

Now I know that this would be a PITA to replace and if I'm going to do it then I'll wait till I get the cash to upgrade to 30 splines and a locker, which leads us to the title...

If the joint were to fail and brake or something... say while offroading at RC... would the tire stay on my Jeep( I know that the rear tire would but I know nothing about the front) and would I be able to drive it in 2WD?

Thanks Peoplezz!

So in other words, what if the axle joint blows up.. what will happen.... Mine blew up and took both yoke ears out. If bad enough it might.. take your upper or lower ball joint out.. but that would require some major work on your part.. Joint is under 30 dollar and if ya have not taken one out give your self about 2 hours the first time to figure it all out.. As for driving with it blown.. If you remove the inner shaft and leave the outer you can drive on it.

I don't have the first clue on how to replace them. Do I have to pull the whole axle out to press them in? And how do I get the Hub* (correct name?) off to access the joint?

Here is a great index of how to replace and upgrade your jeep...it is based on TJ, but lots of stuff still is the same...Look under the axle section mid page right side. You might have to read several things to get an over all picture of it.
If ya need more help let us know...
