Winch on the RENE.

It's always a good weekend when you add to the Jeep! Got the Smittybilt XRC8 mounted and wired up.

That looks great Glenn!
Keep an eye on your temp gauge though. You have a lot of airflow obstruction to the radiator. Might not be an issue in winter but it could get hot in summer.

I thought about that when I put the bumper on knowing I would be buying a winch at some point.. I bolted a 2x6 roughly the size of the winch where the winch would sit and used the fairing mounts with brackets to secure it. I drove it for a week this summer (July) and didn't see any change in my temp readings. It looked stupid and I'm sure other Jeepers were wondering what the hell I was doing. I think I should be fine. Thanks for the input! Any time you restrict air flow you run the risk of running hotter. I had that problem with a Toyota Tacoma that I had a Fisher plow on. Whenever I was driving with the blade was up I had to have the heat blasting and my window open! Dealing with the snow sucked but at least I was "toasty" warm. hahahaha
