YJ Throttle Body Kit - 4.2 - AZ emissions

I've had a lot of trouble with my Jeep's original carb and even a rebuilt MotorCraft, so I've decided to move to TBI.

Does anyone have some suggestions for a TBI kit? I've looked at Holley kits and one by FAST.

I need it to be street legal as I have to pass AZ emissions, but I'd prefer not to get a California emissions kit as it seems like they cost more and produce less output. I'd love to keep it under $1500 as I'm in college and looking to purchase a house.

Does anyone have any good past experiences with a certain kit, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I put the Howell kit in my 89 with the 4.2. It was a little under $1100 w/ shipping. Took about 6 hours to install. Runs perfect. Jeep has started every single time i have turned the key since installation... Jeep has not died even one time since install... I will never ever ever drive another Jeep without fuel injection...

Do you happen to remember the name of the kit if they have more than one?

More importantly, you said it took you about 6 hours. What would your skill level be? Just out of curiosity.

Thank you!!

Choose the appropriate kit for your application:

Jeep Fuel Injection Conversion Kits by Howell

They also have a 10% off coupon code, you should be able to find it if you look.

I am pretty mechanically inclined, but there really arent any difficult steps... The instructions are pretty easy to follow.

No problem, you can call Howell directly for tech support. I would suggest you call them prior to purchasing the kit, and that way they can give you a quick breakdown of what is involved in the install...

Yeah, that was my thought too. I called them just a bit too late today, so I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning.

Thank you again!
