Your opinion on these rims please

I'll be picking up this '88 soon, the stuff on the hood is actually moss, not rust! It wipes right off. It has what I determined to be XJ rims, and am wondering what folks think. Do they look ok or not. I think the look is okay but something bothers me about the fact that they are from a different model, especially on an otherwise all stock vehicle (with Acme top and doors).

My '91 has the same wheels. I keep them until I do the lift and tire upgrade.

It won't cost anything to keep 'em. That is my 1st priority.

Personally I like those rims and I would have bought a set a few months ago but I don't like the factory backspacing and didn't want to put wheel spacers on.

I am agreeing with all of you. Won't have cash for replacements any time soon. The backspacing and width are okay with the skinny 215/75/15s on them right now. I want to keep her relatively stock, just increase ground clearance to compensate for the lower YJ stance. I was thinking of 1" shackle lift and 30x9.50x15 on these or different rim.

Keep it the way you like it. Everyone customizes their jeep to their own liking, so it doesn't matter if it's from a different model. Nothing is sacred on a YJ except for the square headlights.

I would prefer 15 x 8 rims with 30s, but the budget will be zero after getting the YJ. However, it did find an interested buyer on a Comanche/Cherokee forum. Still, that won't come close to the cost of the cheapest new rims out there. Time to comb the junkyards.

I bought my 5 matching rims on Craigslist for $200. Take your time looking and deciding which ones you like and a deal will come up if you're not in a hurry. I bought my rims about 6 months before I had them mounted on new tires. It's hard to be patient, but it will pay off.

Thanks, good advice. Looking for rims is a good excuse to peruse the local junkyards, which is very exciting for me.

Ha ha, I do too, but I give them to my daughter to sell on eBay or CL so it's win-win

Yes, they look good on there. Ive always liked switching around wheels between models. I had steel liberty wheels on my rubicon to reduce the rim width an inch and narrow the track 3 inches.

Those wheels will be perfect width for 30x9.50, or 235/75 tires. Keep em!

My 90 came with those on it when I bought it. I love my rims. I'm planning to refinish them this summer. I think it keeps the jeep more reminiscent of the 25 year old beauty that she is.

I think those are called Turbines.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but they are in there and work. I'd have a lot of other things on my list before I spent money to change them.

They'd look real good with a little more rubber wrapped around them.

I agree that they look much better with bigger tires. They are called ten spoke turbines.

Yup. Turbines. I have 31x10.5 duratracs right now. The plan is to go to 33's this summer and I hope to keep the turbines. My current dilemma is what flares to use. I can't decide between pocket flares and flat flares.

Now I wish I had bought a set!
Maybe I will break down and sell my Cherokee rims that I painted black. My wife would kill me if bought a 4th set of wheels.
