2013 JK Oscar Mike

Hey guys, I've had my JK for almost two months now and have been slowing adding mods. Nothing too crazy, trying not to break the bank. This past weekend I had to replace the radiator, so I changed up the grille and bumper a little bit. Pretty happy with the look so far. Black bedliner for the grille, VDP stubby ends, and upgraded to clear turn signals. I've got 1.5" wheel spacers all around, so I think the stance in the front looks great with the stubby bumper. Plan on adding the Mopar front bumper light bar mount soon as well as painting the rims black. Beefier 33" A/Ts are also in the plans at some point. All comments and suggestions are welcome!

Just an update. Broke down and bought new wheels through DTD, really couldn't beat their offer. Also put on some falken wildpeak A/T3W 285/70/17s. Really pleased the the way they look. Put on the soft top for the warmer weather too!

New wheels/tires look great! The black/billet combo works very well

What's next for you?

Thanks for the kind words! Probably going to order an Olympic front bumper light bar mount in the near future. I feel like the front end looks too plain without a stinger or hoop of some sort

Looking good. I just purchased the same wheels tire setup today and wanted to see what it looked like.

Finally added the Olympic 4x4 front bumper light bar mount to add some detail to the front bumper. Pretty happy with the look. I've also got an 1.25" body lift coming in the mail, so that's up next.

I decided to add the Rough Country 1.25" Body Lift as a cheap way to give it a little taller stance without worrying about geometry changes and such. Ended up hitting a snag with one of the rear most body mount center bolt. When trying to remove the (extremely rusted) bolt, the capture nut broke free from the body. Had to cut the bolt out, drill an access hole in the body, and replace the body mount, bolt, and nut. We're still actually in the process of piecing that back together. Every other mount was trouble free thankfully. Here's a before and after comparison. Somewhat difficult to notice a difference, but you could definitely see it when half the spacers were installed on one side but not the other.

Just a quick update. I recently found a deal on a Teraflex leveling kit (puck style) and some Rancho RS5000x shocks on marketplace that I couldn't pass up. Just had everything installed last week and am super happy with the outcome. Combined with my body lift I have just under 3" of added height. I also added some rock rails since my last post and they definitely saved me some body damage the last time I went out. I've had the jk for just about a year now, so here's a picture for comparison.

I went out on an open run with a club around Thanksgiving and had a great time. The property was a mess with tons of mud and snow, so I was afraid I was in a little over my head (at that point I only had the body lift and 33" A/T). Most of the other guys had at least 2.5" lifts and 35s. Many of the rigs were definitely built for being abused. I had a great time and was super thankful for the patience of the others drivers that were much more experienced than myself. Just for reference, the black JK with the gas cans in one of these pictures had 40s I believe.

Today's install was the JL style latches in an effort to minimize hood flutter. Took me somewhere around a half an hour and I took the no-drill approach. Overall I'm very happy with the appearance. I picked them up off of Amazon for $35, so hopefully they hold up.

Sub'd. I'm interested how these hold up. My hood is terrible going down the highway at 80 mph.

Little bit of a test of their strength/functionality last weekend. Did a few hours of highway driving and my hood flutter is GONE, even on a windy day. So far so good!

Had no idea the JL latches would line up on the JK's. Got a part number from Amazon?

These are the ones I installed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No issues so far (it has been about 4 months).

Worked liked a champ! Got them for $30. Needed to cut back the plastic gasket for the hood parts, and cut the alignment tabs off the base part. Thanks for a great idea!
