2013 JKU Salvage Rebuild Thread

So after years of being away from Jeep's the bug bit me again. I have been buying and rebuilding salvage vehicles for years, and this JKU just so happened to pop up at an insurance auction about an hour away from where I live, so I bit the bullet and bought it to satisfy my itch.

What we have here is a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with 46k miles. Has an AEV 3.5 lift on it with Pinters. Front axle is bent, along with both RH mounts completely torn off. Fender flare is MIA, but damage to actual fender is minimal. Pitman are is sheared off the steering gear, and all the steering linkage is bent beyond repair. Otherwise, it fires right up and is in pretty good shape overall.

So the first step was getting it off the trailer. Made a little progress yesterday and welded all the mounts back together, put the wheels back on and here it is ready to drive off.

Now I'm on the lookout for parts. Originally my plan was to LS Swap this, throw a set of Mopar 60's with 6" long arm kit under it and run 38's or 40's. That being said, this will end up being a slow build for the next few months, as I am in the beginning stages of building a new shop in the backyard to work out of.

Great to be back in the Jeep community.

Made a little progress on cosmetic stuff this weekend. Flat fenders, front and rear bumpers. Have to take the N-Fabs off and get them powder coated to match as theyíre looking a little rough.

Koko (Hawaiian Blood) The Hawaiian meaning of 'Koko' is blood. But Koko is not about the blood that runs through our veins. Koko is the Aka (umbilical) cord that connects us to the Wao Akua (realm of the Gods), Aumakuas (ancestral spirits) and the 'Aina (land).

Slight change of plans. I found and dragged this thing home to use parts off of, itís a 2013 JKUR. Iím going to swap the t-case and Dana 44ís into the Sahara. Looking at whatís left and salvageable, the trans and frame are untouched. Leather Interior is also in decent shape, only thing unusable is the dash.

This would make a perfect platform for a standalone LS powered buggy build on 60ís while keeping the Sahara as a more humble daily driver.

So I pulled the front 44 out of the donor, and itís now sitting on my bench in the garage awaiting refurbishment. Going to strip and paint it, weld in c gussets and some other armor. Also going to re gear to 4.88.

Ordered the following:

Metal cloak 3.5 Gamechanger Kit with arms
Fox 2.0 shocks and steering stabilizer
Mopar off-road wheels
BFG A/T K02ís 37x12.50R17
Yukon 4.88 Ring and pinions for front and rear
Artec C Gussets

Debating sleeves or truss. I donít necessarily like the look of a trussed axle. Still have to do some research on axle shafts and ball joints but Iíve got enough to start.

love to see someone who appreciates putting a jeep back on the road like I do! My 2016 Jku Backcountry was a salvage too. lucky to get yourself a set of 44's!
