2014 JKU Granite Crystal Metallic - Modest Build but Love That Damn Jeep!

First post on the "build" forum but think it's at a point worthy of it now.

From the dealer lot in 2014:

Sport S
3:73 Axle Ratio
UConnect 430 Head Unit
Alpine Premium Sound System

Here's the list of Mods:

AEV 2.5" Dual Sport Lift
AEV Control Arm Relocation Brackets
Northridge 4x4 Grade 8 Bolt Replacement Kit
Rock Crawler Adjustable Front Track Bar
Teraflex 2.5" Rear Sway Bar Links (Switched OEM rears to front)
AEV Pintlers
Mickey Thompson 295/70 Baja ATZ P3's
Teraflex Heavy Duty Hinged Tire Carrier
AEV 3rd Brake Light
Mopar Power Dome Hood
Mopar Gas Cap
All Badging changed to Black
21" Antenna X replacement
JW Speaker 8700 Evolution J2 Headlights
JW Speaker 279 J Series Tail Lights
JW Speaker 6145 J2 Fogs (to be installed)
AEV Floor Mats and Cargo Mat
AEV Procal - for tire size change and set DRL's

Love this damn Jeep. Light duty off roading but mostly highway miles to work. Turned over 80,000 miles a few weeks back. Been a great vehicle reliability wise...couple axle seals replaced, new battery and oil cooler housing replaced under warranty because the dealer cracked it when torquing the filter housing!

Installed the JW Speaker lighting yesterday except for the fogs (they didn't arrive at my door until last night). Got a good interior and exterior cleaning including the suspension.

Finally used a can of the Fluid Film that's been sitting in the garage on the suspension. Why did I wait so long!? I only sprayed a little as needed then spread it around with a microfiber towel including the fender wells. Spent a good 1.5 hours under it and got everything. Man! What a difference maker! Looks brand new under there! Live in Houston so rust isn't much of a concern but it definitely gets grimy under there.

Next up - Mickey Thompson's are getting close to 40K miles so will need replacing soon. Going to go up in size a little bit. Considering Goodyear Duratracs in 315/70 or Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285/75. Considering bumpers, sliders and flatty fenders but it takes me a long time to make decisions....lots of mental masturbation on mods. We'll see...for now I think it is looking good!

Super clean, looking good! I just picked mine up my 2015 in Nov with 9800 miles on it and have so much surface rust on the underside. Definitely will have to look into the fluid film

tnard, very nice build. I have the GCM JK Freedom Ed. 2018. This color with dark tinted windows is so tactile looking. How much louder are those Mickey Thomson's over all terrain tires? I test drove a 2015 with oversized tires and the road noise was to much, and I have a hearing loss, so says my wife. I've been looking at those tail lights, they look awesome. Keep us posted on your build.

Thanks!

The Mickey Thompson's are getting louder as they wear but not at all unbearable. They are all terrains. My wife has a Rubicon and of course came with BFG Mud Terrains. Those were horrible....couldn't ride with the windows down much less the top off after they only had a bit over 10K miles and I kept them rotated but I guess not enough. Someone told me if you don't rotate them every 2K miles they get choppy and loud. Did a leveling kit on her Jeep and put some 285/70 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. Those ride great and are super quiet. That's got me thinking about them for my Jeep when the time comes.
