2016 Hard Rock Doing it Right

After having a 2 door JK for a couple years. I now know what needs to be done with my 'new' four door! Here is stock-stock day 1. Won't stay small for long!

Having taken off lots of parts from my red two door, it just kinda worked I got a hard rock. Just lucky the red parts will still work. First example hood latches. Took the hood scoop off the old and just added 3m tape-good as new. Window gaurds I had new in the box that I never put on the old one. Worked out-the HR now gets brand new rain guards

Recycled Lights, Winch and Rear Bumper never looked so good. Front bumper is brand new tho. Got a crazy half price deal on it somehow.

This is better than Christmas! Less than a month in and making great progress. All the things done so far is just prep and killing time until the big stuff arrives.

Gifts from Friends are the best. Red door handle inserts and red grab bars from the last one. Thanks H2JKU! Also got the spare me spare tire adapter mounted-nothing to it. I'll just leave it attached and if I needed to throw the bike rack on its ready to receive it. In the pic you can see the led behind tire brake light too.

To continue with the concept of "doing it right." I fixed a few things Jeep dropped the ball on. First thing is no room for pointless things on this Jeep. Cut the useless hood vents. And removed footman and windshield bumpers. Added windshield washer nozzles-mostly just for fun. But turns out I really like them. All in all I can now look at my hood and not cringe. Last, added LED Domes inside.

If the hood vents start to fade check into line-X for them. Looks good and holds up great. Iíve had mine for 2 yrs and they still look new as the day I had them covered.

Awesome! Thanks. I was already considering painting them red as is. I could deff see how they could fade.

Currently fenderless since Safari pal sent some twisted fenders. But they refunded my purchase quickly. So I'm looking at other options. In the meantime here is a pic of my reused spacers, rims and tires. 18" and Nitto 33"s. The Grappler Exo's did their job-going on 60k. Are fine for street but I got 'stuck' in some mud the other day. Still love the rims even tho they are showing some wear after tearing them up for 2 summers. I have to run 18" because of Rock Krawler Tie Rod. And that is making tire shopping a little more difficult in 37's. Trade off's

After having my Red 2 door 'broken' into. My doors were off.....Dont! Trust the center console to lock anything. It can be pulled open by a weak child. What a joke that Jeep doesn't provide more protection on a vehicle that they know people are going to have canvas protecting their valuables. Rant aside. I got under seat locking drawers. Very worth it. Prolly could have got away with one but in case I have others with me who want to lock up stuff, these will provide more than enough room. I'd say you could easily fit 4 wallets and phones in one. I was half hoping I could fit my cobra nighthawk CB in one but its just not wide enough. All you have to do to install passenger is remove the bracket and relocate wire. Stupid easy. Driver has nothing in the way.

Game has officially been changed! 4.5 High steer Metal Cloak Game changer is complete. It was a slow and hard fought battle but well worth it. Added a set of Falcon Piggy Backs. The ride is so smooth. Tires this week!

Also did a little touch up on the faded hub 'caps'. The center wasn't so bad so I decided to just add some mo red to the faded outer ring. And painted the screws too. Also got one of the AJT key fab covers. All the custom mods!

FINALLY got the fenders on. Couldn't be happier. After trying to figure out what to do with them for 2 weeks. While having a shop do the tires I randomly mentioned the fenders and they said they would look at them. 8 hours later done. There's no way I would have been able to do the fenders and liners in a lifetime they were so twisted. But they did an amazing job. Didn't waste anytime checking out the new tires. With only 100 miles on them and some really deep mud I was not impressed. But it was extremely slick clay so I'm hoping they are better on rocks. Found a rock to check the flex. First pic is sway bar on and the next is no sway bar. HUGE difference. May of had a tiny bit more flex if the brake lines were a tad longer.

Couple more weeks couple more tweaks and the build will be nearing major completion.

After a couple failed attempts found a pipe with the correct OD Diameter. Cut the pipe and had a friend weld it. Making a 2 door rack into a 4 door rack=finally a success. Added some wrinkle paint and I'm very happy with how it came out. Rack has some tabs front and rear for some lights so got those wired up also.

With the rear tire carrier blocking the plate wanted to move it. Didn't want to move it to the center of the spare since I have a spare me bike rack. Not very mention options. So other than drilling holes in bumper or tire carrier or bending around body I found this option. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Coupled with.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Once getting the fitment right and realizing I had to have the light on the bottom it only took ab out an hour to complete. Other than losing some clearance and looking really goofy, I'm happy. Now its legal and that counts more than the other two. I used the stock clips so if the trail gets really narly I can easily unbolt and un clip and save it from being smashed.

Thank you very much. I'm really happy with it. Can't believe how quickly went from Stock to Monster!! Only a few wish list items left.
Brakes a must
Hydo Steer nearly a must
Ball Joints a must eventually
On board air a wish
Snorkel a want
Battery would be nice

Miss anything? lol

TNT Customer Evap relocate and skid installed. Terrible directions but good product as far as the strength goes. Had to trim extra plastic on the side of canister to get the mounted holes to line up. And uses self tapping screws--- So Cheesy. I thought they were the only skid and relocate but now I am thinking Rockhard is better. Metal cloak only relocates. Since all three are close in price why not skid it at the same time. Learn from my mistake. Go with Rock hard 4 x 4. Easy install uses a sandwich plate and has a slot for locker wire to come down.

After frying my can bus for the sway bar motor by using a cheap ODB tuner (I think) I got the EVO no limit manual disconnect. I had already got the ACE sway bar motor flip "kit" (it's just a bolt.) So I put both on at the same time. Little stupid since there's no electronics to protect anymore but o well. Instead of using the knob I lock-tited a nut so I can use a socket. For now its easy enough to turn by hand but I imagine it will get more difficult down the road not to mention the plastic knob could break completely.
