Bbortko’s Big Bear “Bertha”

After 2.5 years of driving my wife’s jku on weekends and dreading driving my malibu during the week I caved and bought my own Wrangler, a JK Big Bear.

Since I drive 70miles a day for work and the big bear comes with ko2s I decided to start my upgrades by tackling the jks biggest flaw, the stereo. I sound deadened the floor and all speaker pods plus added a tuffy 299 to hide the sub, amp and my work tools. System consists of a pioneer 4200-nex, morel tempo ultra components in the dash, morel maximo coaxs in the soundbar, alpine pdx-v9 amp and a hertz hdx250d subwoofer.

Always forget to take pictures when off-road but I got one from her maiden voyage.

Since it was going to be a while until I needed to lift I replaced the stock shocks with rancho 5000x shocks after a month or two which were a huge improvement. I also added a griffin attenuator and ace sliders.

I had originally lifted my wife’s jku with rk1.5” coils but decided to go to 2.5” to help with breakover shortly after this I decided I wanted my own jk so I held onto the coils and since the wife got me a few lift parts I bought the rest of my parts to lift my jk and get the parts off my shelves. Lift consists of rk2.5” coils, rancho 9000 shocks, yeti track bar, teraflex rear axle side track bar bracket, and teraflex front lower and rear upper control arms.

Got her lifted this weekend. Since I like the tires I’m going to try and keep them until a blacn Friday sale at which point they’ll have 35k on them, would definitely look better with bigger tires but doesn’t look terrible as is. The garage definitely looks better without the parts laying around and it turns outs my shocks were shot and I was bottoming out during my commute, all four corners had clean spots from the bump stops.
