Testing the battery, wondering if it went bad. Voltage seems OK, but charger seems to indicate otherwise. 12.75V ain't bad so it's something else. Time for a flat bed to the dealer.

Edit:
Today engine started, CEL is on, got a bunch of codes:
• U110C - Lost Fuel Level Message
• U0001 - Can C Bus
• P0480 - Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit
• U110A - Lost Communication With SCM
• U1403 - Implausible Fuel Level Signal Received
• U110E - Lost Ambient Temperature Message

Tow truck on its way.

Turns out it was a bad battery!

I've never seen a battery fail that way before. Plenty of cranking power, good voltage at rest, must have been an intermittent internal bad connection.

It's massively disappointing, it's a 16-months old Odyssey, quite expensive.

So I'm back to an OEM bat, will get another AGM in the future but certainly not an Odyssey.

Must be a warranty on the battery? I have a Optima Yellow top.

There is, I'll try to get something back. I'm thinking Optima next time.

For now I'm back to OEM...

Electrical gremlins are back. I'll measure battery voltage tomorrow, perhaps the alternator is at fault.

Sorry to hear that! You’d think the dealership would have checked the alternators output before just switching the battery out!

Well I think the battery was fried anyway. I was having a hard time recharging it. I'll have the alternator tested, but from what I see it's weak.

Chicken-and-egg question: is it fried because it was trying to charge a bad battery? Or was the battery fried by the bad alternator?

I may upgrade to a 200+ amp alternator if it needs replacing

I first heard that one at work a long time ago; good luck saying that kind of joke at work nowadays!

So did this turn out to be the alternator?

Don't know yet, I'm travelling this week (not by Jeep)

Will have it looked at. It's either the alternator or the PCM. Chrysler engineers, in their infinite wisdom, decided the voltage regulator should be... regulated by a separate computer!

Feedback from the dealership!

It turns out the e-disconnect sway bar module and connector are melted and short-circuiting! This explains why the battery drains whenever the engine is running and not when it's off.

They're looking at options now since I have a lifetime service plan, but my inclination is to just splice that connector and leave it at that, since I haven't used the e-disco in years. I'm not spending any money on it. Maybe I'll go the EVO air disco route at some point for the sake of convenience.

News at 11.

Glad to see they are making progress on a repair. Seems that e- disconnect does cause a lot of trouble!

I did read somewhere that a short in the e-disco can cause weird things!
I’m glad you figured it out!!

So that's not covered under my extended warranty. Not that I care, I've been disconnecting manually for 2+ years now. Not spending a dime fixing it.

They've cut off the melted connector and apparently the Jeep is running fine. Hopefully it won't throw any codes after I pick it up on Monday as that module is part of the canbus. My feeling is it'll be fine.

I'm not the first one to have that problem, for example: My electronic swaybar disconnect killed my jeep

I may add an EVO air actuator at a later date. Or just put on a non-Rubi sway bar as that one has too much play even when connected.

What a POS that e-disco is...

Well the mod bug flared up again, so I installed a Rugged Ridge phone holder and JW Speaker LED taillights. Man, those things are bright!
