Just a quick update. Yesterday we drove Chicago to North Platte, roughly 12 hours of seat time, 736 mi. The day started windy, and as we headed out onto the plains it got even more windy.

The steering with the new Steer Smarts HD-N felt great. We ran Rubi at 80+ mph, she tracks straight, one finger on the wheel driving. Handling the wind beautifully...I'm impressed!

Thanks Todd Build up your Jeep, then when you use it on the trails, you'll develop a whole new level of appreciation for it.

You're going to love Moab!!!

Hey, checking in from the trail. This was from our first trail, Steel Bender...a very descriptive name It features a couple of highlight obstacles, "The Wall" and the "The Fall". The Well's book tells you "you will know it when you se it".

This is me sizing up The Wall. As you can see, it's taller than Rubi...

...and The Fall...

I just posted a video we did of "The Wall" on my Blog under "The Latest".

https://www.expeditionbuilds.com

Stay tuned Amigos, more to come!

P.S. Leave me your thoughts under comments...would love hearing from you.

When I ran the trail, the fall was way more intimidating than the wall. It is a fun trail, though.

We have a couple trails up here that have falls like that. They feel nearly straight down and you get ready to mash the throttle to get the rear end down just in case. We named one of them "Holy Shit" (because of whet everyone says cresting the edge before they drop) and the other "Lawn Dart" (because you feel like a human lawn dart heading towards the ground).

Have fun my friend and keep the shiny side up!

Great trail, very long and it just keeps throwing it at you! For some reason, I don't mind climbing straight up...enjoy it in fact. Coming off some of those ledges though...that's a whole different thing

Did you find the video Scott?

My friend @AzScooter once said to me the difference between a class 6 and 7 trail is bigger than you think! After wheeling a week in Moab, I now understand what he meant by that!

Getting our feet wet on Steel Bender...

Traveling back to Chicago today. I'll have more to come soon.

Coming back down can be some scary stuff. I recently found myself putting the tranny in neutral to keep the engine from pulling me down the hill faster than I was comfortable with.

It was a longer decent that your picture above, but nowhere near that steep.

That is where hill descent control comes in. It is on the row of buttons below the stereo and AC controls. It is the little picture of the Jeep at an angle. What you do is put the Jeep in gear, and push the button. Push it once, 1 mph, twice 2 mph, etc.

Yes, and it's super effective. I really used my hill descent control a lot on this trip. The selectable speed control is fantastic.

Bravo to the Jeep engineers on this one, very useful equipment! Thanks for highlighting this Scott

I came straight back from my wheeling trip to a brutal work week. It's Friday night and my mind keeps drifting back to wheeling in Ouray and Moab.

I have so much trip info/pics/vids to process and catch up on. I'll keep working on getting things into the blog, in the meantime, happy memories of tackling "The Wall" on Steel Bender, as well as the snow we hit in Ouray.

This is from "Rainbow Terrace"...

Check out the blog, under The Latest. I have a cool three camera set-up rolling for "The Wall" as well as some cool drone footage of wheeling in the snow on "Govenor Basin", Ouray, and on Rainbow Terrace. Leave comments at the bottom of the page, I would love hearing from you.

Ah, the nature of vacations, and being self employed. You bust your tail to get all the outstanding stuff done so you can leave, then you come home, and have to bust tail again to catch up on everything that came up while you were gone.
You know, if Jason keeps this up, he might become a decent videographer...

That pretty much sums it up Scooter! Thankful for the opportunities I have!

It's really great to see someone(Jason) progress and grow. Our ethos is better each time out. He is really beginning find his voice as a videographer/film maker. We shot a huge amount of content that we will be working on in the coming months. The shorts we have up are more for setting the tone. Thanks for taking a look

67 Designs Mount

Here's a product I added before my trip that I really love and would recommend.
I ordered 67 Designs 2 Ball Kit + Short Arms.

They proved to be rock solid for holding my iPhone and GoPro/Cameras.

I mentioned in any earlier post that my friend @AzScooter once said to me that the difference between running class 6 and class 7 trails is bigger than you would think. I finally was able to learn what he meant by that on this last trip to Moab.

Our first trail we ran was Steel Bender, which is rated a class 6 trail. This trail features "The Wall" and "The Fall". It's also very long, and just keeps throwing fun obstacles at you.

On 4" of lift and 37" tires, I cleared all obstacles on Steel Bender. Not so running the Trivecta (Poison Spider-Golden Spike-Gold Bar Rim). I was on the skids plenty of times...

That's one of the big differences between class 6 and 7 trails...the size of the obstacles you get to tackle.

I just posted a write-up in the blog detailing the armor I'm running and how it all performed. Look for that under "Got Armor?"

https://www.expeditionbuilds.com/the-latest/

Leave me your comments/thoughts at the bottom of the article. I would love to hear from you!
