Jeep with no name build

Might as well start a thread for my Jeep. 2015 Jeep JKU Rubicon. I thought all original. I will update when I do projects. Not sure how much you want to see. Will be pretty basic for about a year. If there are ideas on tires I need some soon. Looking for good combo on road/off road tires. Thanks for looking in.

Tonight I was checking a squeak in the rear brake area and found this. Never used spacers before. A little wary of them. Saw them break on a Jeep in Ouray.

Looks good. I applaud you for “not” naming your Jeep. I mean no offense to those who do, but I don’t get why people name their Jeeps.

As to the spacers, I was in your camp originally. I picked up my 10A this past February. I needed spacers or new wheels because of the lift. TF 2.5”. I like the oem 10A wheels,so I went with TF 1.25” spacers. I was unsure about them but know they are quality and hub centric. I installed them per the instructions and checked them after a few hundred miles. They were still rock solid. I check them now when I change my oil and rotate my tires. Still tight too. Red loctight is some good stuff.

I say Check the nuts to be sure they are still tight and enjoy the Jeep.

Welcome!

You will find that there are a lot of people on the forums with wheel spacers - correctly called wheel adapters (like what you have). Spacers are a big no-no as they don't bolt into the hub and in turn shorten the lugs.

Lots of options and opinions on wheels/tires. I ran the Nitto Trail Grapplers for a while but didn't care for the street ride. I switched over to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and really like them...good balance of traction, trail, and sound (very quiet at highways speeds).

Good luck and enjoy the journey of building the jeep. I've been tinkering on mine for three years and continuously upgrading...thus the "Saga" name. Yes, I did name my jeep. No offense to those that don't though.

I did not think of a name. I am in the camp that a name cannot be forced on anything. It just happens naturally. Just my opinion. I read the "Saga" thread. Well named thread. I have nothing against naming it. It will become apparent at some point.

Found a good deal on a set of 10th Anniversary bumpers. So I got them. Installed some KC LED headlights as well. That is a great improvement over stock.

Nice bumpers. Where in AZ are you? Flag? Prescott? Rim country?

BFG A/Ts are the standard for split time. Goodyear Wranglers are excellent but stupid expensive.

I like the Nitto Trail Grapplers. Very low road noise for a mud terrain. Like crazy quiet. I’ve run BFG M/T and A/T, Goodyear M/T, General A/T.

I am in Mesa, AZ. I was looking at all kinds of tires. Not sure on lift either. There are a lot of choices. All cost a lot.

We have to wheel together!

This is what I’m discovering. Some upgrades encourage daily driving, some encourage off-roading. Know which is which.

Who names their vehicle? I’ve never known someone to do so. And I LOVE my vehicles. When I own them, I commit. The naming is maybe a Jeep thing.

I also don’t Jeep wave. I only motorcycle wave/fingers down. Because motorcyclists share a common understanding of risk and reward. I also will not motorcycle wave to a helmetless rider on any bike. They mostly don’t wave anyway. Again, they don’t really get the risk/reward thing. When I lived in Montana, I wave at almost every passing car because it’s the thing to do. In my neighborhood I wave. At jeeps, I just don’t get it. If you’re a hot girl in a Jeep, I’ll wave lol

Good morning all.. Just an observation, because I have the same bumpers (very nice). If you don't have a preference either way, you might want to take the bolts from the ends of the front bumper and put them back into the slots they came out of.. even though you took off the ends they look good in the stubby IMO. More importantly, it will save the threads from getting damaged and gunk(rust) from getting in there if you ever want to put the ends on again or resell.
A picture for reference.. Looks just a dad bit more BA.. again JMO.

Enjoy today fellas and have a great Jeep,
Jeff B.

PS - I always wave to Jeeps. I've owned six over the last 25 years and only named two, because they earned it.. Is it a Jeep thing? No its an appreciation thing and kind thing.. No different then if you're riding a motorcycle. I always appreciate a little kindness and brotherhood when I see someone making an effort to wave. kind of like writing about my bolt theory. No reason to take my time and energy to tell you all about it except I want you to have all the information so, if you choose to, you can do that as well... It's because I appreciate you brothers. That said, I wave to complete strangers when I catch them looking at my Jeep or otherwise when they are walking with no Jeep.

You are very right. I am just waiting on my LED fogs to arrive and install them. Then, for now the ends go on.

Accomplished a little more this week. Got my new hood latches in. And some Morimoto XB fog lights for the bumper.

I really need to do some adjusting on these fog lights. Pic above is with just fogs. Next pic is fogs and headlights.

After doing some smaller projects on to a bigger one. I have a Metalcloak 3.5" lift on the way. I will try to keep up with pictures as I go. Should be here in a couple of weeks. Any hints or tips gladly accepted.

Nice!! So much for “pretty basic for a year” lol

Tips. Final control arm length will be the result of properly aligned axles. Easy to do with a tape measure and a can-do attitude. Visit back here if you’re stuck.

I think a lift, a winch, and some larger tires is a basic set up for a Jeep that has none of those things yet. I will check back if stuck. I have watched so many lift videos on youtube that I do them in my sleep!

Toughest part on my first lift was getting axle sides down enough to put 4” lift springs in without completely detaching axle. When putting a loose axle in, it’s keeping pinion rotated. Basically 2 jacks + jack stands are your friend...

But yes, agreed, it’s a pretty easy job.

I think easy if you have an idea what to do in what order. I think I have a handle on that. I hope. LOL. I don't know a lot. But as an aircraft mech- a- nik I think I can figure it out. Probably be a tool I don't have that gets me. I installed a leaf spring lift on my 1981 Cherokee. That was fun on the garage floor that I never want to do again. I am going to rent a spring compressor just in case. You are welcome to come over if you want. A seasoned observer would be great to have.

I put the 315’s on. As long as I don’t hit any bumps I am fine. Metalcloak lift arrives Friday the 5th. Before and after.

My TJ was good with a 4” lift and a soft top... but no way the JK fits.

You still have old wheels, yeah? You might have to sweat this out in the driveway...
