Jonathanthursty's 2 door Willy's Wrangler

I've been wanting to start my build thread so here it goes!

Back in April 2017 I bought a used 2014 2 door manual willy's jk as my first vehicle after college. My dad had a wrangler when I was growing up and I've wanted one ever since I was a kid.

I bought it stock and have done the following upgrades
  • Cheap LED cube lights for the A-frame
  • MCE Narrow Width Fenders
  • 33 inch tires
  • Pro Comp wheels
  • Custom stubby front bumper. Seller fabricated it himself
  • Ace JK Pro Series used rear bumper
  • Cobra 75 WX ST handheld CB radio
  • Poison Spyder Rear Differential Cover
I have gone through several phones since I got the jeep so I plan on finding some older pictures to show its progression. Here it was when it stood stock (only mod being the cube lights)! I've done all the installs besides the wheels/tires myself and am happy to explain if someone is looking for help!

I just bought a Rock Krawler 2.5 inch adventure series 2 lift kit with bilstein shocks and am impatiently waiting to get that installed!

The first upgrade was the LED cube lights a month or so after I bought it. I broke the rule and did lights before lockers but for 40 bucks it added to the appeal of the jeep. It was the first time I had wrenched on a vehicle and finding the firewall in a stickshift took forever but I got it down. It's been two years and the cheap-o lights from amazon still hold up.

The first big upgrade was the MCE flat fenders. I decided against doing a lift kit at the beginning and this was a great way to get 33s under my jeep. I love the look of the fenders!

I got the 33s installed the next day which greatly enhanced the appearance of the jeep. I went with Nitto Terra Grappler A/T tires. They are a more aggressive a/t tire and provide great on and off road performance.

I promise my photos will get better!

I went to my first Easter jeep safari 2018 and put my jeep to the test. This was my first real experience with off-roading and I had a blast! Even with the easier trails it was amazing. I did Hellroaring rim (3) and Seven mile rim (4).

A few weeks after Moab, I stumbled upon someone selling a custom stubby bumper on craigslist he made himself so I drove down and picked it up. To install it I had to relocate my vacuum pump for the winch mount. I have not put a winch on it yet but its one of my future mods!

The bumper is simple and functional plus came with the KC hilites which I wired to use with the fog light switch.

I've had to paint the bumper a couple times. It came rusted up a bit so I sanded it down and used some rattle can primer and bed liner.

Next up were some wheels since the front tires were rubbing on the sway bars. I got a great deal on some pro comps and love the look of the old school o's.

I scored a great deal on an ace engineering pro series rear bumper. Bought some LED's for the slots and wired them to go on when I shift into reverse. What a difference that makes for visibility! It's taken a couple beatings going down ledges and has held up great.

Before EJS 2019 I installed a CB radio. Thanks to radio shack in moab for tuning it since I forgot to! (Also did not know radio shack was still in business.)

I peeled back my rear diff cover while out there. When I got back I bought a poison spyder diff cover. Figured I'd paint the spider to add some looks and functionality.

The build thread is up to date and my lift kit arrives today!

Hooke Road 4x4 hooked it up with some headlights that I installed this weekend. Not the best before and after pictures but these lights are bright!

The kit came with the antiflicker harness and wiring to run the DRL's to the fuse box. I ended up putting them on a fuse that is hot when the jeep is running.

Has anyone else had good luck with off-brand headlights?
