Hey Guys, I finally am getting around to posting my Budget Build. First and foremost, I do not rock crawl, Mall Crawl or parking-lot squat. I bought this 2014 JKU for me and the kiddos (Wife has severe Phobias but is very supportive) to go trail riding and occasional camping. Having that out of the way, I donít have the budget to spend $$$ on allot of parts. so, my build is mainly Amazon and trades or Freebies.
I started with a Bone stock JKU Saharah Altitude White. I love this thing, but first time offroad I found its limitations. I needed Tires, the headlights were terrible and getting in and out for the Kids was tough. So as a Birthday Present my family purchased a lightbar and grab handles. For the Tires, money was not there so I found a great guy in Houston that had a full 5 wheel set of 15Ēs for 100. They are MB TKOís! I thought they were going to be trashed, but to my amazement they were pristine. He just needed the tires from them, so I got the wheels for a steal!
Now a deal came along that is hard to pass, as a co-worker decided they wanted my softtop (Rampage dual top) in exchange for their hardtop. I needed a Hardtop for when we go camping as such, so I made the trade. Even Steven.
Tires were the next big purchase that I needed. For the time being I took the Jeep out to see how things were and noticed that the tires were one issue and clearance was the other. So I also would need a lift. I had already decided that 33ís were perfect for my needs but to get them on without rubbing the stock fenders I needed a lift. So I found a guy on Craigslist who wanted my Factory soft-top that came with the jeep in exchange for a 3Ē Leveling kit with Rancho shocks and all hardware. No cost trade. I installed this and the jeep was fine with no issues. 3 in the front and 2 in the back. Even with the stock 18ís it was not bad. Come to find out on the 18ís tires are almost a 33Ē tire after measuring.
Still need tires. I went to one of those Buy Here Pay here tire shops who were selling tires with a payment plan. The 33ís I was looking at were literally the same cost as the 35ís. Ughh the decisions I need to make now. Well everyone said if you go to 33 you will be moving to 35ís soon, so I picked up the tires! Falken WildPeak M/Tís 35x12.50x15!!! cost to me $1125 for 5 mounted and balanced with TPMS install. 90 day same as cash so when it was all said and done I paid $1225. $100 was finance charge.
Now I have an issue the stock fenders are rubbing. I need new fenders. I found a guy on Facebook that had Bushwacker fenders on his parts Jeep. I hit him up and he gave me them for free. After putting them on, I was still rubbing at flex. I needed more height. I love the look of a flat fender, but EVERONE seems to do it, I like being different. So I rattle canned them white to match and if I liked the look, then I would take them to a paint shop and have them professionally painted. I love the look! BUT, Still rub. So, Money is still an issue, and well, I donít care about haters, so I bought a 2Ē Body Lift. No more rubbing.
Fatherís Day turned out to be a great Jeep day as well as the Wife bought me my New Bumper, my son bought the grill, and my daughter bought the shackles.
I now need steps, rear bumper and winch to complete the Big $$ stuff on the Jeep. This to me is so much fun, just looking for deals, trading, and meeting great people.
