My Anvil Build Thread

Hey guys. I recently bought a 2014 Anvil JKU Rubicon with 58k miles and decided to document my build and adventures here. This is my second jeep so I dubbed her the name of Deuce. I just upgraded from a 2011 sport JKU and man I love the changes. There has already been quite a number of mods installed already but there will be several things, of course, that I will want to do this her. Budget build so unfortunately this will take me a couple years to finish.

Already installed

EVO leveling kit
Pro Comp Series 29 17inch wheels
JW speaker 8700 evolution J headlights
JW speaker 6145 J fog lights
Tuffy under the seat box
Cobra 75 CB
Rockhard oil pan/transmission skid
Evap skid
LOD sliders - welded on
Zeon 10s winch
Regeared to 4.88
Dynomax quiet crawler exhaust
Rugged Ridge stubby front bumper
Rockhard patriot rear bumper with tire carrier
Dynatrac progrip
Tuffy rear cargo security deck
ARB rear differential cover
Mesh sunshade

Here is the list of modifications going forward:

Phase I - Suspension/steering

Evo enforcer 3inch with flip
Rancho 9000xl
Extend rear breather tube
Fox steering stabilizer
Bumpstops
JE reel 1350 front driveshaft

Phase II - Protection and accessories

Prolink
Add fire extinguisher
Spill kit
Trail doors
Trasharoo
Evo rockstar
Front Lca skid
Rear 44 skid
Trail gear battery box
Poison Spyder or RH cage
Brake bleeding valve
Poison spyder brawler front bumper

Phase III - Get ready for 37s

Evo C Gussett
Redneck ram assist
Syngery sector shaft brace
Buy 37s

Replace when it breaks:

Dynatrac prosteer ball joints
Carbon 35spline rear axle shaft
Dynatrac PR44

I had previously purchased a used tie rod that I was going to install on my other jeep but kept it and finally got it on my new one. Unsure of the brand but kinda looks like a ruff stuff tie rod.

I'm a sucker for accents so I felt I needed to paint it red

Then I had to do a few minor cosmetic upgrades next

I didn't care for the mini liner and I had some inners lying around so I cut them to fit the already trimmed flares and installed them.

I pulled my trekarmor seat covers from my 11 and put them in. They were a tight fit because I think they changed the seats after 12 but they feel fine to me.

Updated the faded out fuel door with my old metal Mopar one

Added some grab handles

And painted the trim on the inside

I decided to keep the stock 430N for now but upgraded to kicker speakers and polk tweeters. I also installed a rockville sub in the back but had to use a PAC C2A-CHY23 module which I luckily found on ebay since they are now discontinued.

I added in a plastic mesh DIY grill cover and painted it red

I had an issue with some rubbing with my tie rod ends and my wheels so I added some 1.25" wheel spacers. I was weary due to the things I've heard but everything turned out pretty well without any issues.

Before:

After:

Plenty of clearance now

Never liked the long antenna look so I opted for the shorter CB style.

I also wanted to attempt the prevention of the d shackles moving around so much so I bought some daystar washers. They fit amazingly well and did just what I wanted, you basically have to move them by hand now.

I painted my orginal jeep logo on the grill to match my rubicon sticker on the hood.

I found these on amazon just to add some red accent on the ac knobs. Just cosmetic fun.

Painted the underside of my LOD sliders. We will see how it holds up but I like it turned out.

Friend of mine gave me this overhead console. Not a fan of the camo but hey it was free and I like the extra storage.

Yea I've been meaning to add one just in case. It was my orginial thought just to have one before I started offroading but that hasn't happened yet. I'll more than likely have it before I upgrade anything else.

Fixed the steering wheel vibrations! Only took 3 shops to balance my wheels correctly. Oh well, at least the new shop I'll be going to is closer.

Installed a trailrocker system that a friend sent me. I wanted a different switch panel so I ordered the a pillar from daystar and waiting for that to finish.

Thanks. I had to have one after seeing it for the first time. Unfortunately it was after I bought my last one. Took me 2 years to get it haha.

Found a guy selling a practically new Bestop NX pro for almost nothing real close to me. I questioned him on why he was selling it so cheap and it apparently came with his used Jeep that he just bought and the dealership bought and installed it but had one issue. It leaked pretty bad in the rear around the glass so I figured it might be a seal issue and I decided to take a chance. The dealership worked with Bestop and he got the NX glide instead for no charge and they said he could keep the defective top. They switched out the back glass without any success. Not sure why they didn't just change out the weatherstripping instead. After installinh the top I noticed there was an angle cut at the bottom of the seal on either side of the glass where it touches the tailgate. Not sure if that's how it comes or the installer did this but I added a strip of seal to either side to fill in the hole and ran the hose over everything and no leaks. Maybe it'll be a different story with the next rain but I feel confident I fixed the issue. This is my first Twill top and I gotta say I love the difference, very soft compared to the black diamond. Very excited to have a nice premium soft top!

Installed my trailrocker system and added the daystar panel for the switches. Going to look into horizontal switches later, but these will work for now.
