My tool bag had outgrown the rear seat so I wanted a shelf that would utilize that useless last 10-12Ē of space to the roof. Things can be strapped to the Molle system. I currently have it set with 12Ē of room to room. I could drop it another 1.5Ē or so and raise about another 2Ē probably. Only downside is you canít run a soft top with this shelf. At $250 itís a little overpriced but it filled a need I had. And the powder coat will scratch easily.

This is a nice mod Does Alan list a load rating on it?

Winch and shelf look good! What's your plan on reusing the plastic?

With smaller winches like the VR series you don't have to. But if you get into Warn Zeon series then you have to get the relocation bracket and move it. I also didn't have to relocate mine.

Well the powdercoat on the Warn fairlead sucks. It cracked from me tightening the bolts too tight. And then rained for 4 straight days. I guess Iím on the hunt for something better. Donít really feel like fixing it.

Send the pic to Warn - see if they will replace it.

Just take some touch up paint. First time you use your winch it will knock paint off and most polished once get oxided pretty fast. Wear it as a badge of honor

I would think aluminum would be a better option.

Contacted Warn today and sent them a pic of my fairlead. They asked for my address so hopefully they are sending me a new one.

That will probably be my next project. Iím also going to add a 1Ē spacer in front and a 1/2Ē spacer in the rear to level it out and give it a little more lift. If Iím happy with the amount of lift and ride then I may go up to a 315 Cooper STT. Iím doing the spacers first and see what it looks like. I might even jump up to a 3.5Ē lift of some kind in the next couple months.

you interested in adopting an old man LOL. I say more power to you, if a person has a passion for a healthy hobby and they can afford it then they should enjoy it. Whats the saying you only live once and once is enough if you do it right.

I wish I would have had the confidence to do my own installs years ago. I would have saved probably more than $20K.

Since putting my recovery bag and compressor on the MPS shelf all I could hear is jingling zippers. Cut them off and made some paracord pulls. They donít look that great but will be easy to pull with cold hands and they donít make noise. Also raised the shelf about 1.5Ē which makes a big difference as far as sight and not hitting my head.

Just ordered the SteerSmarts drag link. Tie rod will take a few days to probably a week to get. I decided to try it without the Griffin. Didnít want to spend the extra $225. I can always add it later if I want to.

It was a great upgrade on my 2 door. It will be interesting to see how it feels without the Griffin and if its necessary or wanted.

I ordered mine without the Griffin too. When I was at SEMA this year the Steer Smarts rep basically talked me out of it. But if your goal is the ultimate on road mannerisms with a lifted Jeep then it's probably worth the extra money. For me, once I installed the drag link, tie rod and track bar it was more than what I'd hoped for. No need for extra parts when it's working so great as is.

The SteerSmarts Jeep wasnít running with it at SEMA. Itís a pretty tight fit with everything to begin with and the Griffin is pretty big. With the Recon skid plate, I know you have to trim it with the Griffin. I have my old one from my 2 door that is already trimmed so itís not a problem.

My Final "JK" Build

Got my SteerSmarts drag link. Still waiting on my tie rod. Looking forward to installing this to see how much difference the Griffin actually made.

Changing my oil today for the second time which I hate. I forgot to buy a Fumoto, but I will be buying one before my next change. Not having a garage, fighting the wind and having to cleanup everything is not worth it to me. Fumoto is in my Amazon cart.
