SilverGypsy's JKU Build

Hi there. I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 2015 JKU Sport. I bought it on Black Friday and it was completely stock except for a couple of after-market upgrades done inside. (Upgraded to leather seats from a different Jeep and hooked up the heated seats to a couple of flip switches.)

I only have the one pic the day I brought her home.

First order of business! NEW TIRES. The tires were sooooo bad on this Jeep. Seriously, it was hydroplaning during my test drive. But hey, it allowed me to negotiate a significantly lower price point and that is why it didn't sell quickly, so it was just waiting for me to come buy it! I wanted to pick my own tires anyway. They had bald crappy street tires on it as it was a fleet vehicle.

After much research, I finally decided on Falken Wildpeak A/T 285/70R17s, which is a 33-inch tire. I wanted a bigger tire, but I don't want to regear.

She is my daily driver and will be on pavement about 85% of the time.

Second order of business:. Wheel covers. I am on a budget, so couldn't do new wheels at this time, so went with a matte black wheel cover. The center caps are coming separately, so will upload updated pics when those come in.

Turns out the bigger tires DO rub at wheel lock, mostly in tight cornering in reverse, so I am gonna order some 1.5-inch wheel spacers.

I also really don't like the stock rake but am not keen at the moment on doing a lift...... May do a leveling kit, most likely the Teraflex Performance Spring leveling kit down the road. (Hmmmm, hoping Santa brings me one for Christmas.....)

Ordered new bumpers, too! (Sigh. Patience is a virtue, just not one of mine.)

Total score! I wanted a Smittybilt Bowless soft top combo kit, had budgeted to order a new on in the spring...... Just on a whim, checked the local FB Marketplace and found a NIB one two blocks away in my little town for $300 LESS than new. It will sit in the basement til next Summer, but that savings means I can buy some other parts off my wish list!
