That Damn Jeep

I bought my 2018 Jeep JKU Sport new with 20 miles on it, a cold weather package and a towing package. I just wanted a cool SUV. Little did I know, I would catch the Jeep bug and after only 2000 miles I had added a lift, new wheels and new stereo with thousands of dollars of future plans haha!

A few more pics of enjoying the Jeep stock - cruising with my beautiful wife, going fishing, learning how to spend $$$ on gas and a little mudding

My first mod was new stereo, subwoofer and backup camera. This was my first time installing a stereo in a vehicle, so it is probably kind of messy but I tried to keep it buttoned up. Crutchfield tech support was very helpful. I went with:

Kenwood DDX9904S eXcelon Double Din Stereo
iDataLink Maestro
Kenwood CMOS-320 Backup Camera
JBL BassPro SL Subwoofer

I used thin foam and felt to help prevent against rattling sounds. I also had to go back and re-solder because I forgot to solder in the backup camera leads. Other than that it was pretty easy to do the wiring harness with a kit from Crutchfield that had all the right connections and documentation.

I installed the sub-woofer under the passenger seat

Getting the power for the sub through the firewall rubber into the engine compartment was a bit difficult

I attached the sub bass control dial to a little panel in the center console. I probably could have figured out how to just expose the dial only, but I was ready to be done with this mod so I simply screwed the dial with it's housing to the panel. Looks decently clean I think

2nd mod was to connect USB in center console to the stereo and add a phone mount. To utilize the USB connection in the center console, a connector can be unplugged a factory module behind the fan/heat controls. Plug the USB connector from the stereo into that and now I am able to use that center console connector to charge my wife's phone. Then I ran a longer USB cable under the dash and up around the base of the windshield to the phone mount for where I attach my phone. I upgraded the stereo mainly because I wanted Apple CarPlay but also because the factory sound is just not that good. I use Apple Maps for my GPS through CarPlay and mainly use it to listen to audio books, podcasts and Amazon Music. I do have a SiriusXM subscription but I may cancel that as I find myself not using it a whole lot.

This phone mount is not the greatest. After using it for a few months I think I need to get a different setup.

That Damn Jeep

After much research I decided to go with the Metal Cloak Game Changer 3.5 lift. What really sold me was AutoEdit's youtube video of his installation along with all the positive feedback on MC products.

Brand new lift pre-install:

Up on the jack stands:

Tools Organized:

Pre-Brake Line Ext:

New Brake Lines:

Getting the help of a friend:

Shocks, springs, control arms, sway bar disconnects, track bar:

The Axle was not easy to position sometimes. You can see i also installed a Mopar reinforced tailgate hinge with tire carrier which will hold up to a 37" tire, which I eventually plan to upgrade to:

Stock Suspension Components (only 2000 miles on these):

Finished!

Thanks! Great minds think alike I ordered front and rear MC bumpers on valentines day (free shipping from MC on that day) and will be installing those in the next few weeks. I also ordered the Overline fenders/flares front and rear with the body armor in the rear. The winch I want is the Warn Zeon Platinum 12-S which is $$$$$ so that'll have to be the next round of mods

Yeah I already put on side steps but may end up doing the sliders and ripping those off. Wife/kids need the lower steps and sliders tend to be higher/harder for them to step up. I def want some nice lights too! $$$ gotta phase it
