going to keep this build very simple. 2018 Recon is going to stay mostly stock for a while.
Right away I installed 295/70-17 Cooper ST Maxx tires on stock rims with Spidertrax spacers and an aev 2" spacer lift. using this diagram I have 2.5" lift vs your average jku.

Other first week mods include a Rubicon Express gas tank skid as that is the only skid I have really used on my last two rubicons and those did the rubicon trail, dusy ershim and several moab trips. so Pretty comfortable with just the gas tank skid for now. I also added some Teraflex lower sport arms. It drove very good without but being I was at 2.5" lift I figured another ~1.5* of caster would be good. I have used the sport arms before with great results and that is a cheap and easy way to add some caster. Only thing on the not to distant horizon will be a winch and most likely go with the VR10000 again as I bought one when they first came out and never had an issue and it made many hard snow wheeling pulls.

today decided to replace the AEV 2" spacers with some Mopar coils that come with the mopar 2" lift 77070088AC. the coils can be ordered alacart for dirt cheap ie $185 from moparonlineparts a vendor on this forum. They pair up perfectly with my Falcon 3.1 shocks. They actually gave me about 1/2" less lift than I was getting with the AEV 2" spacers. That is ok by me.

Yes. I could have gotten away with the 2.5-3.5 falcon.

I guess I am going to say the Mopar coils do ride better than stock recon coils with spacers. This is based on my wife saying "alright what is different?" today. I said why and she said it seems smoother or something. she had no idea I changed anything as I swapped the coils while she was at work yesterday.

Question answered.

Thank you for answering a question I have been having for several months. I am trying to decide on a 2" AEV spacer lift or the Mopar 2" spring lift. The $$ difference is about $1300 but as long as an experienced Jeeper (and his wife) says the Mopar spring lift rides better, it is what I am looking for. Again, Thanks.

installed my new Warn VR10 with Maximus3 winch plate which I ordered there @RubiTrux and got excellent service on. Winch plate was an easy install nothing tricky at all.

Beautiful ride, JAD! Our architect for a house we're building got a Gobi Recon unlimited last year and it is a beautiful Jeep. If they offered Gobi and Anvil at the same time I'd be so torn!

I'm shopping new shocks; been riding Rancho 9000s for 4 years now; they're beat to hell, physically (big dents in the rears, all four adjustment knobs gone, etc.). My local guys are all Fox 2.0; any input on why you chose the Falcons, and especially the remote reservoir? Thanks!

Thanks, I wanted bright white again but had to settle for Gobi as I got a heck of a deal on it. It has grown on my tho I would still pick bw if given the option. On the falcons I just took a chance and I 100% love them. I would buy them again tomorrow if I came out and found them gone. not sure I needed the reservoir shocks but decided to go for it with them. I do a lot of higher speed forest service roads around here and we have some roads that are literally 100 miles of nothing but rough dirt where you wont see another person so figure they might be worth it.

added a Tuffy front plate holder. I am sure I could have built one but for like $17 hard to beat.

I have had them side by side with 315 st/maxx and they are close to the same height but the 315's are wider by a fair amount. They are 33.25" tall mounted on the jeep.

DANG I scored a deal. guy advertised some AEV Savegres on local CL and I offered him $400 and he countered with $450 (for 4) and they are like brand new.

Stopped by Northridge4x4's brick and mortar store while on vacation in NW washinton (nice people) and picked up a set of black lug nuts. looks much better to me.

Those are still my favorite AEV wheels Jeff! The Saltas look great, but the thin lip & dish style of the savegres are much less susceptible to rock rash. I had savegres and the 12 sport and wish I had kept them.

My good buddy had Saltas and just put ST maxx's on in 315/70-17's and decided to trade his JKURHR on a 2019 Duramax 3500 so he called and asked if I wanted to swap my tires and wheels out for his being dealership would not know. I jumped at it as I really like the Saltas.

Holy you weren’t kidding when not keeping up with you on tires.
Saltas are way.
You can see in the pic that the rounder wheel make Jeep look more like new jl and overall smaller look, where the saltas make Jeep look mean and tuff.

Before I get the mopar springs, you say they are .5 inch less height then exact 2 inch spacer. Question is what difference in inch’s you think the spare tire holder weight does for the back ‘spring or spacer’ height, and for winch weight as well. Because I am looking to lower my spring/spacer height.

I like the 285's I could have gotten the 315's for less than the 285's. If you saw them side by side mounted you would swear the 285/75's were slightly taller albeit narrower. I generally like bigger but these ride so nice down the highway. I am on the look out for some interco 35x10.5-17's to mount on my stock rims for when I want to play harder. I bought my jeep in November and already have 12,000 miles on it so I have been enjoying the 285's vs 315/35/s on the road trips. I have run many of the trails in Moab with 285/75's so I don't feel like I am giving up much running them. I had the st maxx's in 295/70-17 for a short while and traded to these as I liked the additional height. I have friend who has the st maxx on her rubicon in 315's and she lives across from another buddy who is currently running 295/70-17's in the st pros and he says mine look taller than the 315's. The 315's and the 285's are only a pound different in weight so if you like the fatter look go 315's if you like the narrower look the 285's are the way to go.

cleaned up the 3rd brake light. Might have been the easiest mod ever. AEV CHMSL $51 but worth it for ease of install and how clean it is.

Hey just picked up an BW Recon and wondering what front splash guards you are running and if you looked for a set of 4? Mopar guy said they do not have any for the Recon also what sill guards did you go with; I am looking at Mopar, RR or Amazon that look identical to RR.
Prices are wacked in Canada so will wait till I get to the states.
What is the difference in coils on the Recon (+0.5 over the base Rubicon I think) and the Mopar 2" from stock? Looking to smooth the ride as the wife is complaining it makes her feel sick.
Love the ride so far.

Mopar front splash guards and mopar sill protectors. Mopar rears won't fit exactly but some have used them. 2" Mopar coils are similar to stock ride.

I have 315 17 17's Firestone M/T2's and think I may try the Falcon 285 75 17's AT3W next time around. I didn't trim my rock rails and my current tires will rub when they flex.
I would try the 285 75 17 KO2's but I'm guessing they would be smaller than the Falcon's.

I would guess the bfg are .5 smaller then most brands, for same size.
My 33s mounted are 31.5, where looks like the 34 are 33 mounted.
