1997 TJ Sport Rebuild

Bought knowing I’d need to do some frame and body work. Here’s pics from when I bought it in 6/2019. 4.0 engine, 32RH trans. 3.07 gears on 33” and a rough country 2.5” lift. PO has records and receipts of all work done as well. Including the frame “repair” which was some angle iron welded poorly near rear control arm

Well after a week of owning it, it died on me about 8 miles from home, coming back from a camping trip.

Smelled gas and noticed the fuel pump was pumping gas over the skid, so somehow the fuel line became disconnected.

The PO had just replaced the fuel pump and gas skid plate before I bought. After getting a tow home and dropping the tank I realized they didn’t reinstall the tank straps. So I’m assuming the tank slid around in the skid and jostled the line loose. I also couldn’t find the line clips so either the proper one wasn’t used or it got knocked off from the tank moving.

So with dropping the tank I figured why not tackle the frame and body repair. It ended up being worse than initially thought (always seems to be the case)

I figured I would repair the frame with Safe T Caps and just cut out the floorpans and torque boxes and reinstall brand new ones.
