1988 yj project

So I have been tinkering around with this for a while and finally got nice enough weather to put some more paint on it, so i am posting it up here.

It started out like this

And after alot of mods and going in 10 different directions with the build this is what i have so far

It now has 79 f250 dana 60's under it, 5:38 gears waiting for me to install them with new driveshafts and 4.0 with a 231 sye on a RE 1.5" spring over platform, tube fenders and 1/4" armor on all corners what do you think

Yes i did, I started out with less cut out of the rear but ended up with a large tj cut. The fronts are easier to make, and the sides of the front fenders are 1/4" plate as well so they should be able to take some abuse. What you don't see is the corner guards that cover the entire rear of the tub so I have 1/4" steel under both sets of tubes.

so, school me on the front fender creation...looks clean as aftermarket. i got a tube bender but dont know quite how to tackle it. did you heat the tubes before and during the bend? and where did you start those bends so they were not getting in the way to do further bends???

If you have a tube bender then you don't need to heat the tube at all . The outer fender is a second piece of tube on the front if that is what you are asking.

Finally pulled the jeep out of the garage after a year of rebuilding here is how it sits now and I included some of the specs.

88 yj not quite finished but on a RE 1 1/2" SOA lift on boomerang shackles with 79 Ford D60"s and 30" stocker tires . High steer arms with tie rod behind the axle and a Durango steering box. Have 5:38 gears in the house waiting for me to install them, will have a spool in the rear and open front for now, I am waiting on Aussie to come out with thier D60 locker this year. Fenders tubed and trimmed for whatever tires size i can come up with 1/4" steel armor on front and rear fenders.

I bought the arms as a set for my D60 they cost me 200.00 on a special. they already have the 10* correction angle milled in. They needed to be reamed for the TRE's as they only came with 5/8" holes in them but i have a reamer so I saved 8.50 per hole that they charge to do it.

I got the tie rod and drag link from the same guy, really quality stuff the rods are over 1/4" thick and are tapped so there are no inserts to break loose on the trail. I used a 4" drop pitman to get everything level and that should reduce the chance of bump steer and D/W . The rod ends are one tons so they should last a while.
