Yes, rust sucks, and in the process I forgot how much I hated those stupid fender flare screw and plastic block things.

Up next, more prep for new paint job. Then not sure, might address the axles, or lack of lift or build a better cage, or just drive it for a while.

Did a bit more work on the YJ this weekend. Jeep is kept a bit under an hour from the house, so drive it to my house then back late on sundays and only have time to work on it on the weekends. Did some more work the fender area, still not how I want it yet. Sanded the hood down and got a 1st coat of primer on. I could spend hours on this thing taking care of all the little scrapes in the body. Instead, I am not going to worry about it unless you can see it from 2 feet away. Will try to post some pic's of the hood later tonight when I go back to work on it.

Well with the 3 day weekend, I had a chance to get the jeep in primer. Still have to wet sand and the fender is not 100% but over all I am happy with how things are going. Will be a few weeks before I get another chance to work on it. Here are a few pic's before the camera died. Was a great day for top down driving.

Well have not done much to the YJ in the past few weeks. Aug should bring the new paint job. And today I just picked up a Ford 8.8 with 4.10s so that will be something to work on as well.

Did some more sanding this weekend. Primer now has a glass smooth feel to it. Few minor area's that will need a bit more work, but at this point I am set to order the paint. Rear 8.8 axle looks decent as far as just having some surface rust from sitting. Going to work on some new seat belts for the inside as the drivers side does not want to lock in place.

Well I got to paint the Jeep on saturday. Turned out looking great. Few minor things to fix at some point but not bad. Just have to install the front of the lift kit and then work on the 8.8 axle swap at some point.

Looks great, your body work is sublime. Nice look with those tires. Just curious, maybe I missed it , but what lift are u using? I put 31's on my stock wheels today. Had to take off the flares...lol. No rub so far, I may just go with it. If anything I'd rather do a small body lift I think.

I have never seen this thread, but I'm glad that I did! Not only does your Jeep look phenomenal, but I also brings back some fun memories of the last year for us. We started with me "fixing two holes" as my wife would call it, and I ended up doing something completely different.

We started with this "with two holes".

We ended up with this, after I "fixed the two holes".

One lesson learned, when she asks, "Can you do..."? LIE!!!!!!!

Its a 4" rc lift. The new lift itself was easy to install, getting all the old springs off with a few frozen bolts, not as easy.
