32/36 Weber upgrade -87 YJ 4.2L "nuttered"

I finally decided to upgrade my carb. I bought a new "stock" carb when I rebuilt my jeep a few years back. but my mpg has steadily decreased. (not that it was great to start with). So I researched it some, read up on the forum, and started buying parts. 32/36 Weber Carb (morris 4x4), a Plenum (Pierce Manifolds) cuz I wanted the cool lookin breather, (auto-zone) and the ability to add in a snorkel later. and a fuel pressure regulator (merlin motor sport co.uk.) it all went together pretty easy, the weber instructions are as simple as it gets, plus its been done a lot and this forum has everything you need to know. The plenum was/is a "second" I think from K&N, and though there are a few bad reviews the one I got was perfect except for the clip it bolts to thats attached to the Carb. I just put a bolt in the bracket thats attached to the Carb, with a locking nut so it cant back out and used a wing-nut to attach the plenum. The fuel pressure regulator wasnt cheap, and i got the black one with a re-usable filter, they call it a "Filter-King". I chose to use the V8 , 85mm because another jeeper said its like a mini fuel reserve on inclines and Im all about reserves and extra parts. (I grew up building airboats to run the everglades. (if it breaks its a looong wet walk home)) anyway, i kept the stock filter as well for the over flow, and adjusted the regulator to 3 psi. Now all thats left is the HEI Dist. not sure which way to go here. I checked out Summit, but found 2 out of 41 reviews that said there were vibration issues which caused them to fail. and i dont wanna throw $180. at somethin thats gonna leave me stranded. I mean I could just carry my original stock dist. as a spare I guess. but Ima need a trailer for spare parts and tools before long, lol. Seriously though, any direction on a hei dist. would be welcome.

I've had my summit HEI for just over three years now. No Issues, would buy another in a heartbeat. Two other comments about the reviews.
1. Was the reviewer qualified to install and make a solid decision on the quality and performance, one guy has gone through 4 different Dizzy's with electrical issues in a year. even I'm not that unlucky, maybe the cause is elsewhere, like maybe improper wiring....
2. I am not qualified to make a professional review, just educated with my own research done prior to install, experience from the removal and installation on my own motor, and the great service IMHO from the Summit Tech Dept. when I was doing the install.

Yes there are cheaper makes and models, but FWIW I got everything I paid for and it hasn't left me stranded yet....

Good luck with your choice, done right you'll be very satisfied I'm sure.

X2 on the Summit HEI. I did mine around 3+ years ago and it's been trouble free since. Make sure to order the pigtail for an additional $8.00 or so. Wire it in with a relay so that you'll be getting alternator voltage (14+ volts) to the distributor with the Jeep running.
Gap plugs to .045" and initial timing at 12*.
NAPA for plug wires part # BEL 700326 ($21.83 3 1/2 years ago).

Good Luck, L.M.

@ Got it at last- Bro, I have no idea as to the qualifications of the reviewer, but what made me skeptical was that both reviewers pointed at the same issue, some sort of vibration issue, Thats why I came here.

@ LuckyMac- I looked for the X2, no joy, then I called and the sales rep didnt know what I was talking about. "?" the only Summit HEI Dist. is the Summit Racing SUM-850047 is this the one your referring to . I'm not sure what relay your talking about to get the alternator voltage. I know that when I stripped out my ECM and all related clutter I had an issue with my jeep shutting off. I tried a couple resistors, but finally put the original brown solid core wire back in and wal-la, everything worked fine. So i am a little hesitant to go messin around with what aint broke (anymore. as for the rest, That's good knowledge right there. thanks.

I appreciate the insight.
