Here and there 95 YJ slow build

So my build started approximately 3 or 4 yrs ago. It started when my tranny was going out, my engine was running like crap. I came across a 94 ish chevy 5.7 tbi with a 4l60e tranny and transfer case. I thought heck what are the odds. So I started the swap and my brother and I thought we could redo the wiring for the engine and tranny. Well we dropped the engine in and hooked up the wiring. Started up the jeep. Thought awesome not as hard as I thought it would be... well until I turned the key off and the engine kept running. Hand in face... so I broke down and bought a painless wiring harness from howellefi.com. the engine ran like crap, it shifted like crap.. i was thinking it had to be because the brain i bought for it was from ebay and i was told the brain had to match the engine from the dealership and life hit and had to put the jeep aside till I figured out what I wanted to do... then I came across copart and found a 94 z71 wrecked out with everything I wanted... so I bought it, thinking it had to run when it was wrecked... so my brother and I traveled to the next state over and brought it back to his place. Got it all swapped into the jeep in like less than 2 days all by myself. Jeep started right up and ran good for the most part. I did notice it was kicking out some black smoke from the exhaust. So I drove it for about a month and then it started acting up and then died on me in the middle of an intersection in the middle of the night. So I pushed it myself off into a car lot, hoping they wouldn't tow it or try to sale it by the time I got back to get it moved. So the next day I got my father in law to tow me back home which was only like a half of mile. I through parts at it trying to figure it out on my own. On a good note the parts have a lifetime warranty so won't have to buy those parts anymore. Lol. I got it started, but still ran like complete crap. Then it sat in my driveway until my brother came and picked it up and took to his buddy's, who is a mechanic. So when my brother got it to his buddy's place, he said the black smoke is cause the the engine is getting too much fuel. Later I was told there was a kink in the return line in the gas tank that he fixed and the fuel pressure went back to where it was supposed to be for the tbi. Well about a month later I noticed that my fuel pressure was starting to climb again so I added another drop line in tank. Haven't had any problems since with fuel pressure problems and no more black smoke. Newest problem was about a month or two ago. My jeep started not wanting to shift. It would come and go whether it would shift or not and felt like my tranny was slipping. So I broke down and took it to a local tranny place. Well after a day they call me back asking question like where did I get my painless wiring kit and how they can get ahold of howellefi.com. and they said they took it to the autoshop next door because they said it wasn't a tranny problem. So they call me back the next day and said they talked to howellefi which they were really happy with them due to them keeping good records on the sale of my wiring harness and knew what they were doing. Long story short. I believe due to where I had the computer mounted, it was squishing the wiring at the computer and the connectors became loose and it was throwing a code in the tranny due to the speed sensor. Well I take it home or atleast try to. When I was almost home, my jeep decided it didn't want to shift again. Bang head... so I took it back to the tranny shop and they once again kept the jeep. And later called me saying they changed out the speed sensor and drove it around and hit the roughest roads trying to try and get it not shifting again and couldn't get it to. So they also cleaned up my get wiring job.. insert sarcasm. ... well that was Wednesday and since then I haven't had any problem. Now my next thing is doing the soa lift. I have everything that I can think of except extended brake lines but holding off till the day of the lift. Doing the engine swap has been a big headache, but still happy I did it. Especially when I am driving it around and see everyone noticing my v8 rumbling jeep.

First time I have had the top off in 3 to 4 years. A bit chilly, but nice to have it off.

Took me like 2 hrs putting on the soft top today. Mainly I had to track down all the pieces scattered around my house and shed... I did notice I have some surface rust above my windshield from the hard top rubbing the paint off. Going to have to get that fixed soon.

Well had to take it back to the transmission place again because the problem came back. Thinking it a short in the wire or a connection in that 1 wire. Cause there is no other problem...

Well if it ain't one thing it is another. Lol. It has been shift pretty well since getting it back, but now it will just up and die and lose power. But after tinkering with it, I noticed where my wire on my selinoid that kicks power to ever thing. The nut was lose and the wire connectors were arching... bang head.... sometimes it can be just a simply lose nut...

Youre intro has got to be the longest run on paragraph I have ever read on here, but I read it all. That Wrangler of yours is really nice looking. What are your future plans besides the 8.8

Well, still got to get the 4X4 going. So probably get the front driveshaft. And I want to change out the tail light to led and put a louver on the hood.

Then after that will probably painting it with bed liner.

Was hoping that loose connection would fix my problems, but when I drove it today it stopped shifting again. My tranny guy says if it happens again then more than likely there is a problem with the computer. So it looks like I am going to have to buy a new computer....
